Short boots

I'm looking to pick up some short boots as a Christmas gift to myself 

Looking for comfort riding and walking, durability, but not stand out like a belisha beacon. I'm not concerned about cost but I'm not looking to spend a fortune on a boot because someone thinks they look cool/sexy either.

What do you got, and why do you like them?

PS: I have a very broad foot(triple E), any of you guys suffer the same thing? What did you buy?

Mmmm....I've never owned a pair of riding boots.
My whole riding life, I've only ever used work boots.
I had an off, on a trail bike, on bitumen about 4 years ago, doing about 70 km/h, (nobbies don't like bitumen) , I slide and rolled down the road. When I eventually stopped sliding, I got up without a mark or scratch on me. My boots and gloves took all of the trauma, along with the back pack I had on.
The work boots hardly showed any signs of stress at all, and well and truly protected my feet. But...I always wear high cut boots. If they weren't, I reckon there may have been some lower limb trauma.
At the end of the day, if your not into a fashion statement, work boots work well, and some these days can look fashionable, along with being designed to stand in and walk around all day, as I do any how, as I need them for work as well.

Just an option, not saying you should.

One of the problems that usually gets a mention wrt short boots are laces. Many people prefer not to have laced boots (in case the laces get caught on the pegs - which I have had happen a couple of times with just normal leather work shoes that I commuted with) and it's harder to find non-laced short boots than high boots. Good luck in your quest. 

Probably going to go with a pair pictured below, assuming they're wide enough for my hoof 

I've over come the lose lace thing, by folding my socks over the top of the boot, which also contains the lace, and have never had a problem with lose laces.

I looked at those also, even though they are a bit exxy.  

I ended up buying the the RST Stunt Pro's pictured above, AMX had them on their website for $99 marked down from $149 
So I ring the guys and ask them to keep me a set aside, the bro and I ride over to pick them up and guy says "I put them aside for you, that'll be $50 please". 

That's right folks $50   they have another brand there which are clearanced at $50 also, I can't remember the brand though.

I tried the suckers on and they were extremely comfortable ootb, hard to top that for a pineapple

The laces finish high on these boots and there is a velcro strap at the top which you can tuck the laces under so they don't get tangled in the controls 

Good deal at $99 even better $50.

A damn good buy at that price.
