Newbie Bandit owner

Post  Laurence_p*wiz on Mon 13 Nov 2017, 8:48 am

Hey there Guys and Gall's

My name is Laurence and i live just north of moama NSW (yay).

Fairly new to riding, first bike i rode was a 2014 DR200 on the farm i worked on at the time, loved it so much i had to go and get my license.  Moved and started work on a different farm where i get around a fair bit on a cbf250.  Last year i purchased a high km (98k) CB400 with a knackered gear box, just but the motor back in last month and i love the thing.

However having a best mate who is chief mechanic at the local honda/suz dealer has its benefits.  Was at his place the other day and he asked if i would like his bandit, took it for a spin and omgosh, best thing i have ridden. so i brought it.  2006 1200s with only 2,618km on it.  He got it off a guy who rode it for 18 months and then sat it in the shed due to moving and living where he no longer had to commute, and if he did he used a work vehicle.  my mate got it in with the intention of riding it and selling his 900 hornet, but he loved the hornet too much.  so for the pretty price of a whisker over 4k i now have a stock bandit in the car port.

The downsides to this wonderful story is i have just on 18 months of restrictions left, so plenty of time to fang around on the 400.

when the restrictions are gone look forward to coming on a few meets and greets.

cheers, catch you all later. (i have to go and feed the calves)

pics to come

Welcome Laurance, what a bargain, you'll well and truly get your moneys worth out of this bike, even with higher km and steeper price tag they are still great bang for your buck!!

Cheers for the welcome, just read my post and realised that it sounds like I've only ridden dirt bikes and the cb. Have also ridden a mt-07 good bit of gear just not a fan of the parallel twin and have taken the hornet for a quick blast. Also did a wee stint on a vstar 650, nice but not for Me

Welcome aboard.
To remove the temptation to ride the Bandit I think you need to do the mature thing and give it to me for the next 18 Months. I'm free on Sat Razz

Welcome mate,  and good score.

This is a similar story, to a mate of mine.
6 months ago,  he picked up an 06 1200, with 28000km/s on it, for about the same price. He's already done 10000k's, so doesn't take long to crack them up.

Happy riding.

Hey there mtbeerwah. I have the joy of working on a dairy farm so free time is hard to come by, if I manage to clock up 5000k a year I will be amazed. Can't wait to get on it

Your gunna need lots of it. Just remember if temptation gets to you and the coppers get the best of you, then it wont be a restriction period it'll be a suspension period. Hopefully that's enough for you to keep on the straight and narrow. haha, as if.........

thought i would get some pics of my toys up.

2013 cb400sf I'm the second owner of this bike.  Just got the box rebuilt at 98000km, lil rough around the edges but engine is sweet and smooth and its never had a hiccup.  serviced spot on time and by the guy who sold me the bandit.  So far this bike owes me less than 2k.

and the Bandit below is the bike from my introduction,  cheers guys and galls.  Phone is crap sorry for poor quality pics, i keep breaking good phones on the farm so the missus put her foot down and I now have an elcheapo

Hi

Post  opa on Sun 26 Nov 2017, 10:38 am

Hi Laurence, congrats on the new bandit, the cb looks a great bike too.  Mate of mine has the same model bandit and he now has 153,000 km on it.  Engine is original, does have a nasty camchain rattle on warmup. It's not cause he has babied the bandit  Cool if you ever see this guy ride Shocked ; well, the front wheel spends a lot of time in the air and his footpegs have major chamfers on them.  Cheers, enjoy the Bandit!
