Hi There! Newbie here considering a GSF or GSX 1250

Post  Alheng on Sun 23 Jul 2017, 7:56 pm

Hi All

Newbie here, so please be gentle!

I am considering a GSF or GSX 125O as my touring road bike.  Just sold my ST1300, as age is creeping up on me and I'm starting to find it too heavy, hence looking for a lighter bike.

Figured this would be the best place to do some research.

Cheers

Al

Yes have been doing some research about it  and looks like some of the newer bikes are lighter, but I test rode a GSF1250SA and it seemed ok atm.

It's obviously an individual thing but I'm 70 and love my 1200 Bandit. Once on board the weight seems irrelevant.

Welcome aboard.
Regarding weight the Bandit is still a lump no matter how its painted and front heavy too.
I'm not sure of the super tanker specs but I wouldn't be surprised if they're similar.
The 1250 seemed top heavy to me on anything unsealed. As a highway tourer or suburban commuter they're pretty good with torque where you need it.

Oh believe me the super tanker is heavier.  Wet full of fuel 340+kg, can't feel it when it's moving but you will with sudden stop on pea gravel or a slightly inclined turn.  Also, if you turn down a drive and cant ride out, just park it there and walk away, there is no pushing it uphill.

Welcome!

Bandit is indeed lighter than the ST. A mate has just sold his ST for the same reason. He changed to a VFR.

Go and sit on and move around a couple of Bandits and see if it works for you.

I'm leaning towards a FA but still looking.  Have ridden a Sa but not a FA yet and the SA is pushbike light when compared to the ST LOL!

FA's are faster and pull more chicks than Sa's.

Just sayin.  Laughing
