Yep, from Jan 1992 to Sep 2013 we lived in one of the southern Canberra suburbs.  We didn't want to retire there because of the high number of negative o/night temperatures from May to October. Looks like it may have been down to -9c last night in Canberra.

Those unfamiliar with Canberra weather tend to fix on the temperature…which at -8 is colder than witch’s teat, but you only get these really cold temps when:

1.       The sky is totally clear;
2.       There is now wind.


The upshot of this is that the subsequent days are corkers.

Yesterday was beautiful, lots of sun and still, no fog as all the moisture is sitting on the ground as frost (and lots of it).  There is a period from about 1030 to 1430 when the riding conditions (with good gear) are fantastic.
