Easy Rider movie

Just watched Easyrider last night. I note it was from 1969 and seemingly filmed entirely under the influence of various substances.
I had never seen it before and I had heard about it being some sort of cult classic film.
I think you have to be on LSD or THC to even make any sense of it at all.
Its a shame I cannot get a refund of the 90 minutes of my life I wasted on watching it.

I've seen it a few times and enjoy it. 
It's a road trip movie, a finding yourself movie, anti establishment movie. 
Has multiple underlying meanings or just a visual experience. 
Certainly not everybody's cup of tea, but a movie I do enjoy. Mind you, I've seen Jaws about 30 times. 8-)

In the context of the day it was quite controversial, especially to the establishment. Hippies were of course bad, and the emergence of LSD in that time period gave the establishment even more cause to point the finger. 

@Ironman: Better watch Billie Jack for some light relief!

I watched it for the first time recently and I found it a bit of a downer too, didn't like the ending and destroying the pretty bikes... even though they were two-wheeled boat anchors!

Sounds like you need a dose of Stone, Mad Max or similar then

Saw it when it first came out with a lot bike riding mates. Thought it was fantastic and raved about it for years, then I watched it again recently and couldn't believe I'd watched it. Maybe the John Travolta one (is it Roadhogs?) will have to be the new favourite

A while back I started to watch Easy Rider, fell asleep just after they got to the commune

I have access to a VHS copy of stone to watch. Read up on it first - I hope its better.
Then I put on the world's fastest indian again... it is a great film.

Very dated and I don't know if its still available - "On Any Sunday". A doco across several branches of motorcycling.

You have to remember when it was made . Two drug dealers being the "heros" of the movie was enough to cause outrage .
Then there was the music that didn't include Bing Crosby ,Elvis of dancing .
Yes it hasn't aged well ,but at the time it was a a movie turning point
A small cult movie . And here we are still talking about it . What , 40 years later .
The scene with them crossing the bridge is a classic to me .
LSD ,Mardi Gras bit was rubbish

You should try watching some early science-fiction or space travel movies if you think Easy Rider was dated .

Have you watched it? Has Steve McQueen and a mate in it trail riding, then other blokes each in their area of speciality flat tracking, road racing and I can't remember the others

Did watch Wild Hogs the other night. Was much better.
