Hi
I need to remove the lower fairing on my 2015 GSX1250FA.
How is the pictured fitting meant to work?

It doesn't look like the ones pictured in the PDF Manuel I have.
Those ones you push the center in.
Anyone know how these 2015 ones work?
Thanks
Richard

Slip a small flat blade screw driver into the slot and lever out the center plug.
Similar in design as the fixings with the press in button,  as in the centre piece expands the outer lugs.

Hi
Well I decided to just have a go with a screwdriver and start preying away.

This is what it looks like closed.

This is the connector open.

So some gentle preying with a flat blade screwdriver was all it needed.

Thanks
Richard

No problem, mate.
Glad that you are the type to not let things stand in your way, but think about the problem in front of you and figure out the solution.  cheers

By the way, do you own an RD400? I was just drooling over a trick one on ebay. Very Happy

Hi
I don't have one that is on the road right now.
But I have a few engines in bits under the house...a road bike that needs renovating....Oh and my "never ending" RD400 Drag Bike project.
Have a look...http://rrracing.co.nz/

All my RD400 stuff is on hold while I try to make some money from my rental property's.
One day I should be able to get back Drag Racing.
Thanks
Richard

Wow! That's awesome, Richard.
You build frames and motors and ask advice on how to remove a fairing plug? I think you was pulling our collective legs. Razz

Here's the RD is was dreaming over. Not a bad job, just a pity that he used a Hyosung front and rear end.

Haha, I just realised that I read through parts of your site about a year ago.
I was researching expansion chamber design and your fabrication efforts showed just how much work goes into them and put me right off tackling the job myself. Razz

Fairing removal GSX1250FA...how? Empty Fairing (Vents)

Post  Howie51 Fri 17 Mar 2017, 8:02 am

I would like to pop out the fairing (Vents) on my 2015 GSX1250FAL5 . ... The lower fairing has been removed, and I have removed all of the visible holding screws (3) in addition to the lower headlamp mounting screw, and STILL the stubborn little vent will not let go. What is it holding onto, and how can I release it without removing the upper centre fairing, dash etc?

Cheers

Thanks Paul but he didn't touch the upper fairing whatsoever. I was hopeful however!  Smile

Fairing removal GSX1250FA...how? Empty Problem Solved

Post  Howie51 Sun 19 Mar 2017, 2:46 am

Folks:

If for some reason you wish to remove the fairing vents, I have discovered you must remove the entire headlight assembly, since the vents are fastened in such a way that they must be installed in a pinch position between the housing and the fairing.

Cheers
