Bandit 1250 Maps

Hi,
    I've recently bought an 08' Bandit. Since purchase I've put in a K&N filter, Yoshi RS3, and Power Commander V. I'm planning on taking out the secondary butterflies and doing an airbox mod when it's up for service and getting a full dyno tune. However, I was wondering if anyone knows of a bog standard map that's fuel efficient that I can hook my map button between for the dyno tune and long lazy trips? (Not fussed on performance for a fuel efficient map) I've had a bit of a look around and not found much, but I haven't dug too deep. Wanted to join your forum anyway so I figured I'd ask you guys. TIA

                     I'm from the Bathurst area in central west NSW. I've just been looking some more and still not coming up with much. Might have to talk to my mechanic and go down the route of making my own....

I think running the stock map when touring and the "fuelly" map for giving it the beans would work best IMHO.

Did you try typing fuel maps in our websites search box ................you could always PM a member if it looked like one could help from any of the posts .

                        I've had a bit of a look for maps on here but its the same story as everywhere else. Everyone just wants power maps, no surprises there I suppose lol. As you said Ironman I guess the standard map is the way to go for now. I'll let you know if I find anything different.

For what little I know about tuning, if you are opening up the intake and exhaust breathing, i.e. more fresh air in, then unless you want to run very lean and the associated problems that brings, you are going to have to add more fuel to keep you A/F ratio correct, hence the "power" maps.  To run more efficient, i.e. use less fuel, you'll need to lower the air intake capacity from the mods that you have or are about to perform.  I don't think you are going to have your cake and eat it as well going down the map route.

Have you thought of changing your cogs for those highway trips ?  Cheaper, and the outcome has been reported to be pretty good.  That way you can keep you bike tuned to the best A/F ratio.

I'm not trying to be a prick, but I think the issue is that people spend well over $500 for the power commander plus getting the bike dyno tuned (in their own time). Unless you are a good friend, I doubt anyone is willing to share their map settings without some exchange monetary or otherwise. 

Since you have the PC V you can buy the autotune and it'll map your bike on the go.

                  I'm no tuner myself. I briefly spoke to a bike mech mate who used to have his own dyno about it. Leaning out the motor mostly is going to cause heat problems, but I'm not planning on leaning it out excessively, and when I'm using the leaner map I won't be riding hard so I figure the two will cancel out. I'll obviously research a bit more on it, but I may end up just using the standard map, or going down the sprocket route. I've already dropped a tooth on the front which isn't doing me any favours lol.

              I guess we differ a little on that. I'm not after any power maps anyway, making a map that isn't so much power inclined but fuel efficient isn't rocket science, and I'm still thinking about going down that route. I just thought I'd see if anyone else had tried it before I did (which it seems not). I'm getting the bike dyno tuned by a local tuner at a cost of $370 for a full day tuning which I though was pretty damn good. Seeing as I'm paying for it anyway, there's no loss to me sharing the map when I get it done. If anyone wants it they'd be quite welcome to it. Trouble is, tuning for power is specific to each individual bike. Like reloading bullets for guns, identical models differ as tolerances are never 100% the same. So a map that might be near enough perfect for my bike won't be as perfect for another. In any case I don't mind sharing.

Cheers for the autotune module idea, I haven't really looked into that. Might be the go as long as I can switch it off and take control

Hey Chook. I checked it out, looks the goods!! You got any spare beds left? Might have to tag along either way if that would be ok? I can always find my own accommodation if need be. Could meet you in Bathurst and ride down with you guys, might even have a few local enthusiasts that would be interested too. Obviously have to sort out work and the handbrake (missus) but should be ok.
