New Tyres, the PR's are gone.....
A local tyre retailer had Roadsmart 2's on special "from 375 pair", the 120's+ 180's end up fitted/balance for $420, needed new front pads so they put them in at the same time for the cost of the pads.
Hopefully I get a chance to go for a ride tomorrow and see what they're like, if they're as good as Jimcoleman says I'm sure I'll be happy.

I had to drop the bike off to work and pick up a work car to pack ready for Monday morning, I turned the 10.5km ride into a nearly 70km ride with a little detour into the Adelaide Hills to scrub in the new Dunlops, 1st impressions are good
Re: New Tyres, the PR's are gone.....
Awesome but i think your test ride should have come a lot further East

I'd have a bloody flat centre by the time I got as far East as youmadmax wrote:Awesome but i think your test ride should have come a lot further East
BTW, when you do the Perth trip, you need to allow a days riding with me (and paul, rayman etc) through the Adelaide Hills

Just checked in on a couple of reviews of the Dunlops Chook. One suggested you need to keep a closer eye on tyre pressure as according to the reviewer they lost pressure more readily. The other review said the side walls were stronger than many making them better for heavier bikes (so good for Bandits!). Good riding!

I'm also a huge RS2 fan. And call the tyre pressure quote bullshit.

Planning 10 days to get there, so should be able to.

That depends on the route you take

Re: New Tyres, the PR's are gone.....
I just had my Roadsmart 2's replaced with another set, on special, $410 fitted and balanced .
My front had done 19700km including a loaded up trip to Eastern Creek and Brisbane at the start of 2017 and a loaded up trip to Naracoorte late 2017 to meet madmax and a extended 2 up loaded trip Adelaide - Pt Augusta - Pt Lincoln - Ceduna - Pt Augusta - Orroroo - Adelaide with mm and Davo a few days after.
The 1st rear got a puncture at about 1/2 worn which also nicked the sidewall so that went in the bin for another new one. The 2nd got a puncture heading into Pt Augusta last December and had some extra wear from running 2 up loaded down to about 15-20psi but still probably would have done the up coming Tassie trip but wasn't worth the risk, the front would still have done Melbourne and I was going to get tyres fitted there but saved $65 getting them in Adelaide.
My biggest suprise, my original brake pads (front) lasted a set of OEM Dunlops, a set of PR 2's, Pr 3's, about 31,000km all up. I had new front pads fitted with the Roadsmarts and needed new ones again today, 1 Roadsmart Front = 1 set Front Pads

That sounds like pretty savage pad wear to be honest mate.
As much as I love the RS my fronts have only done 11000 but they’re as good as new even when stuffed and that’s what Michelin can’t match even at their stupid prices.

It would probably depend on the type / compound of the pads as to how long they lasted .

Re: New Tyres, the PR's are gone.....
The rotors don't look any different to when the last set of pads were fitted so I'm thinking the pads GC motorcycles supply are reasonably soft, I can live with that, they felt good for their whole lifepaul wrote:It would probably depend on the type / compound of the pads as to how long they lasted .
BTW, I'm pretty soft on the rears, original rears are still over 50% left at 50,000 km
Re: New Tyres, the PR's are gone.....
I was telling madmax earlier, even that worn they still felt great to ride on, that's why I would have had no hesitation riding to Melbourne on the old ones if the price had been a bit closer, now I know it's done, saved $65 and get a stress free easy day after leaving Horsham, probably include the Grampians now2wheelsagain wrote:they’re as good as new even when stuffed and that’s what Michelin can’t match even at their stupid prices.
