birthday ride
ok so I am planning a ride in bout march april next year [2017] for my 60th birthday. Townsville to Adelaide via alice springs, then Adelaide to Townsville following the coast as much as possible. My question is can you put self and bike on a ferry from geelong area and off it on the eastern side of the bay. Main reason is trying to get out of riding through Melbourne traffic as I hate cage drivers with a passion. thanks guys

My bike on the Queenscliff - Sorrento in March
Note how the bikes are not strapped down like the Spirit of Tassie does.
Chook crossed here a couple of weeks before me and he was told to stay with his bike as they expected the crossing to be rough.
I wasn't told anything. So after standing near the bike for 10mins I went up stairs and got a coffee. Crossing was fairly smooth and the bike didn't move at all.
Price is $35 one way or $30 if booked on line. Ferry leaves either side on the hour. Crossing takes about 40mins.
For me, time wise I saved nothing, but I did get a well needed break on the ferry.
