New to Bandits
Hi everyone!
Back to the pleasures of motorcycling after a gap of over 20 years. Daughter passed her driving test and wife suggested I buy a motorcycle so daughter could use my car, I think she had in mind a 125 vespa thingy but she didn't bat an eyelid when I returned on a GSF1200S. Great fun (strange how she wants me to up my life insurance though).

Welcome on board, John.
That's a great looking bike, if that's yours in your avatar. The oilers are great bikes.
Great forum with lots of good avice and humor from great people.
Tell us a little more about yourself. Where are you from, where you ride, previous bike stories etc.

Previous bikes
Let me see, Well I started in 1981 with an AP50, then to a CB200, then a GS550E, then a CX500 which I toured the east coast of Australia as a backpacker, the alternator packed up so I could only ride it during the day (apologies to the bloke in Townsville to whom I sold it). I then returned to the UK and bought a GS850, great bike which I used to commute around London. However, we moved to Central London in '92 and I used it rarely, one day I go to the parking spot and it was gone! Never touched another bike until last month - I knew that if I did I would be hooked again and would have to get one - now matter the cost.
The avatar is my bike, alas the photo was taken 24hours after it was bought whilst it was still immaculate, its now... well not quite so immaculate after a series of stupid parking decisions (all within 5m of home and < 3kph!) on my part which are still too embarrassing to mention on open forum - damn it is heavy though isn't it!

Re: New to Bandits
and here is a close up. I think the rim wheel rims paint job is non standard - all the pics I have seen have a complete black paint covering.
Beautiful !

Welcome, that's a nice looking bike and a priceless wife!!
The rims look like they have been polished on the outer sections, looks good.
