Hello all.
I've been visiting this forum for years and thought it about time to join as it's provided me with useful mechanical tips, ride locations and amusement.
I live in Randwick, Sydney, having emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland 20 years ago. My first bike was a Bandit 600, many moons ago, current bike is a Bandit 1250n and I've had a dozen or so other bikes in between, but always have the biggest smile when I'm back on a Bandit. I'm planning a 6 day trip from Sydney-Melbourne-Adelaide via the great ocean road-Vic Grampians then back up to Sydney, any tips or advise would be much appreciated. I've only ever travelled 2 day trips from Sydney-Sunshine Coast so not sure how I'll cope with this one. I'll post some pics once I work out how.
Cheers, Toby

Re: Hello all.
Welcome to the forum Toby. There are some good roads to be had down in the far south coast regions if you're planning to incorporate that in your trip, and some just as good ones across the border in the Omeo region of Victoria that you wouldn't want to miss. But you might use a few too many days in the south east before you even hit Melbourne. I can elaborate further but if you're interested, probably best to start a thread on your trip planning.

Re: Hello all.
Thanks Ewok,
I'll take your advise and start a new thread, I'm meeting 3 others in Melbourne who are equally clueless and have been discussing this trip for a long time. I was planning on riding to Melbourne from Sydney, leaving at 4am and hoping to arrive late afternoon in Melbourne, not sure if I'm being unrealistic, so hopefully someone who has done this ride can put me right.

Re: Hello all.
Welcome aboard. There's plenty of good roads through eastern Vic but you need more time.
My only tip is watch your speedo
Those who live here survive on the occasional blast into NSW!

Post up your plans and dates as they get closer - me, Ewok, jimcoleman and 2wheelsagain live in the southeast and know the mountains backwards and can give you plenty of suggestions.

Re: Hello all.
Welcome to the Forum Toby.
Some advice for your trip to Adelaide.
Stay off the highways as much as possible.
Use google maps to pick all the twisty roads you can and join them up.
When you get into Victoria don't speed. Cops don't like speeders, it's our number one focus on crime here and our prisons are full of poor souls who wandered over the limit by just 2ks
Finally the GOR is overrated.

Don't go to SA via the Hay Plains then... nothing happening there, no hills, no twisties, same goes via the Mallee Highway, from Swan Hill across to the bordermadmax wrote:Welcome to the Forum Toby.
