SL100 Project
I'd given up on getting a phone call about this bike and spent the money on TLR parts .
Yesterday arvo ,sure enough I get the call saying "come and have a look ".
Projects are not getting any easier to find so it wouldn't do any harm just to have a look, would it .
$600 later its in my shed running with all gears ok .and like new knobbies .
90 mins later it looked like this.
The previous short term owner said he thought it had had a engine "re-fresh ".
Looking at the base and head gaskets (and some seals ) it looks it might be true .
The engine was quite clean already so 30mins scrubbing gave me this . I ran out of allen head stainless bolts though .
A tire shredding 99cc monster engine .

A few small things to do but just about finished .
More "street cred " than any scooter and you have to like $10 for a new front sprocket .

Re: SL100 Project
I think I have worked out your problem Gus, you finish things too quickly! That would have taken me years to do. Great job!
Re: SL100 Project
Someone else did the hard work . It was in pretty good nick when I got it .
The steering head bearings were stuffed , as was fork seals .
The rest just needed a re-fresh .

The way it was just didn't make me want to ride it . It looked like something grand-pa would ride .
Its top speed was about useless and it sounded strangled .I wanted a change of character .

Re: SL100 Project
I don`t mind the colour scheme.
but the light......I think the standard one looks better.
I think the top one seems out of place.
what if you were to lower the whole light assembly maybe?
to each their own I know

Re: SL100 Project
Next project is to make a surfing comeback . Ive had 2 years out due to 2 frozen shoulders . Unfortunately not at the same time .
I'll fit the original light tomorrow . I had plans of a café racer look but it still looks like a Honda 100 with that tank .Top speed is now 60 mph .Just realised that's 100kph so gearing is about right .
Anyone interested at $1000 .

Re: SL100 Project
Good to hear you're getting back in the surf, Gus.
I know the lure is strong, but do take care. We're not as young as we feel.
I snapped my tibia & fibula recently. Up & over the falls, driven into a sand bank foot first.
I thought fin chop or nose impact was the biggest threat that I faced.
Mother nature can be cruel.
Nice work on the little Honda.
