Aldi motorcycle gear sale 8 August
It's that time of the year again for Aldi motorcycle riding gear to go on sale.
Limited to helmets, jeans and jackets, this time around.
I have espoused the quality of the helmets, previously on the forum, and for $80 I will recommend them again to anyone needing a new or spare helmet.
On sale 8th of August.

It looks like we'll miss out again
Their state distribution centre is still being built (I can see it going up from work) but no stores yet, oh well, there's always next year....................

I found the helmets were very much on the small side last year but if I could get one that fits I'd buy it.

Yep and I will miss out as well. Aldi always land this on the same weekend each year. Always on a weekend when I am working dayshift from 7am to 7pm. No point going in afterwards as all the common sizes have already been snapped up.

I picked up one of these helmets a couple of years ago just to have as a spare, never been worn (other than trying it on). It was their part number 8249 in case they still have the same stock. Size was XL (61-62cm) and I find it a little too tight (might loosen if worn all the time). My normal helmet is an Aria Vector size L (59-60cm 7¼ - 73/8). Not sure if they go up to XXL but that probably would have been a better fit.
I think that if you are larger than an Aria L then more than likely the Aldi helmets will not fit, looks like you need to go up two sizes on their scaling.
I got the gloss black jobbie, nothing fancy. It also comes with a spare (clear) visor. For the money it was worth grabbing.

Does any one have an idea about sizing for the textile pants XL / XXL what are they in inches / cm? Are they tight in the thighs?

Every time I go in on the bike sale all the boxes and bags are open by other customers.
Don't think the staff would mine unless you go with out undies

Re: Aldi motorcycle gear sale 8 August
Last year in my local store people were buying two or more of every size and taking them home to try on as there are no fitting rooms available at the shop.
I saw several people with full trolleys of just motorcycle gear which supports the above observation.
All of the incorrect size items are then returned over the next day or so for full refunds, part of Aldi's policy.
One thing I don't appreciate is the potential to receive a helmet that someone may have dropped or damaged in some way and still returned for refund.

Re: Aldi motorcycle gear sale 8 August
Amazing differences..........
Last year I unsuccessfuly tried to get an XL sized F/F Aldi helmet on. I could not get the helmet past the top third of my head. It seemed the sizes were very much on the small side. Yesterday however, just for interest, I tried on a "new" XL sized helmet and it immediately fitted me like a glove. I found the difference in sizing of the 2014 and 2015 helmets quite remarkable.
As a result of the surprise fitting yesterday, my wife and I both bought new helmets. We tried them out this morning at freeway speeds and they are super comfortable and quieter than previous helmets They have inner tinted adjustable sunshields and spare visors thrown in. We are very happy with them. Within the next fortnight or so, I will do over 3000kms as a NSW State BlackDogRider - should be a good test for the helmet.
On a more critical note, I am not sure that identical replacement visors will be easy to come by. Have any Aldi helmet owners had any luck with replacement visors?
The XL jeans and textile pants I bought are recommended for waists 95-99 cms. I bought a pair of jeans last year and they are my favourite riding jeans. Having said that, the adjustabilityof the knee guard position is not that great, which is an issue if you are longer in the thigh.

Re: Aldi motorcycle gear sale 8 August
For the price of the helmets, with two visors, it would be more economical to buy a new helmet when you have used both visors up.
The spare visor is what sold me on my first Aldi helmet. It's now two years old and I'm only just thinking about putting the second visor on. But I spend most of my km with the visor up.
This year's crop with the sun visor look especially appealing.

I bought their wet weather pants and a balaclava today. Not bad for under $30

Yep - paid more for my tinted (non-approved) Aria visor than the full helmet from Aldi. I agree, just get another helmet once the second visor is scratched up that much.

Re: Aldi motorcycle gear sale 8 August
I thought I'd be clever and get there early. 50 - 60 people in front of me and half that again behind. Once inside at least half of those waiting headed to the bike gear. It was like ants over meat.
I got two pairs of textile pants in different sizes and took the ill fitting pair back later and I picked up a pair of jeans as well. The difference between XL and XXL was huge.
Their bluetooth headsets look good for $60. Anyone use them? Tinny music?

Re: Aldi motorcycle gear sale 8 August
I was unsuccessful at obtaining a wet weather jacket of any size. bummer. got the pants though. their xxl is huge. almost too big. I also tried the leather pants. I was lucky to be able to use the toilets there to try them on. lucky I did. had the get the biggest size. tested them over 100km. quality is good for the price. could do with additional and wider belt loops.
they fit nicely when standing but the real test is when seated on the bike. considering their cost, I give the aldi leather pants 8 out of 10.
