Most likely been asked before but will ask again

Post  mstrrab1992 on Sun 19 Apr 2015, 6:32 pm

Does anyone have a pdf version of the suzuki "GSX1250FA" that in particular, i know there is one on here for the bandit, but trying to track down one thats specifically for the gsx1250fa.

Would also like to know, on the gsx1250fa's is the front sprocket factory 18/43? what would be the benefit of 17/43 has anyone done it and enjoyed it? i used gear commander and says it only increases rpm by 212rpm at 110kmh. so hardly anything so is it worth it for that little bit extra oomph?

There were a couple of GSX Supplements to the original 685 page factory manual running around here, one 3 pages the other 13 pages, PM me if you can't find them.

As for changing to a 17 tooth, I've done it but I would not recommend it for a normal road bike,  it's not necessary or advisable, you have tons of power on tap (and more easily available with a couple of Saturday afternoon workshop sessions) and you are increasing your highway RPM (hence using more fuel for the same speed).  I did it as my rig is a land-base yacht and needs (well not really  Cool  ) a bit more to get it off the line.

There was also a problem with aftermarket 17 tooth cogs causing vibrations and noise, I got an 06 GSXR-1000 OEM 17 tooth that has the factory rubber damper built in.

Here's a chart I setup on Gear Commander that shows top speed (@ 8750 rpm) for different front and rear cogs (hope you can read it). The centre purple line is the standard 43 rear with the centre set of lines being the 18 front, so you can easily see how by going smaller on the front lowers your top end speed, or as mentioned you need to increase revs to achieve the same speed as the OEM setup:

If you still want to change the cog(s) there are a couple of good threads on here as well as TWT.
