I've stuck with the OEM filter for 23 years now and they haven't gone up in price much all of that time so I'll probably stick with them.
Others have switched to after market filters, I'm sure they'll appreciate the info.

The K & N 138 are used on many Suzuki V Twins and a heap of other bikes from manufacturers. They're not rare and are easy to come by.menace wrote:hi i read with interest a thread about oil filters.please dont hold it against me i own a vx800 the filter in question is a k&n kn138,

I'm suspicious of your first post seeming to "push" a product that few of us have a use for. Maybe I'm wrong.

Re: baldwin oil filters
Baldwin filters are good quality product by one of the worlds leading manufacturers. I've been using them for over 15 years in everything from cars, 4wd's through to agricultural & earth moving machinery. I used a B1400 for almost the entire time I had my CBR1000f (94,000km) with no problems.
I Haven't used them in my 1250FA yet as the price difference is not much and the availability of the OEM filter is not a problem.

No worries then menace no offense intended.
I deal with a fair few spammers who sign up to flog a range of items from genuine Rollex watched for $19.99 to a product that enlarges appendages. Most people have Yoshi's for that
