Wind protection comparison between the s and fa

Post  HEGGZY on Fri 19 Dec 2014, 9:13 pm

Hey guys, I tried using the search for this but couldn't find anything.
I am curious as to how the wind protection differs between these two models as I have found good buys on both the s and the fa models. My frame is 6ft - 100kg's of awesomeness and hear the fa puts the wind in your face at highway speeds. Has anyone risen Botha models for a comparison? And if so what is your preference.

Cheers up

Neither model is fitted with a touring screen.  Where the wind hits you is going to depend on (a) your own physiology and (b) whether the seat is in the lower or upper position (noting that it comes in the lower position from the factory). I tried a Givi screen on my 1250s but I found it increased the buffetting around my head (I'm 6' 2") so I sold it and went back to the standard screen.  I've never ridden an FA but I can't imagine the airflow around the chest/head region would be much different to the S.

If you don't sit upright but bend your elbows like we're supposed to do you'll be right. Lots of people play with screens and seats and lots finish up back with OEM.
I'm 183 and was quite a bit heavier and the S screen was ok for me.

I'm about 5'9 and I found the stock screen on my FA was causing the wind to hit me under the helmet. I put a powerbronze double bubble screen on and its now just on the top

I'm 6' with short legs/longish body and the wind hits the top of the helmet on my SA at highway speeds

I put the PUIG dark tint sports touring screen on and found the little kick at the top of the visor provided just enough lift of the air flow that it tends to get me in the top of the forehead.

At freeway speed it is fine and agree about the comment to bend the elbows a little. It eases the pressure on the wrists and you have better handling through the corners.

I suspect the FA gives better knee and shin protection than the S. Although it covers up the beautiful engine and exhausts and frame with plastic!

you are right about testing it out. your helmet choice makes a difference too. I ride with a Caberg Konda or a Shoei GT Air. The Shoei is quieter.

I am 1.96m and 105kgs. I have an FA. I put on the Suzuki vario screen which is just a rebranded MRA. With the stock I had air hitting me in the shoulder and neck with a fair bit just whistling up under my chin bar. With a bit of fiddling with the vario screen it now hits at the top of the visor.
