Another one Greek..
Hello to everyone.
Manos from Piraeus-Greece owner of a K8 Bandit 1250 and ex owner of 2002 Varadero 1000.
I would like to compare them, but my first impression is that Bandit has far more better quality compare with Vara.

Welcome aboard.
You have a well designed bike under you but made to a lower price point than that Vara. Honda has superior quality no question but maybe less value for money.

Then we'll discuss Suzuki's fuel pumps, rec/reg, pathetic headlight, ordinary seat, something they call paint but isn't, wiring, then we'll move onto suspension and brakes.
You start

No mate i thought mine was ok. Was generalising. I escaped the fuel pump too but most don't. I should have mentioned the farked starter at 24000km though

Re: Another one Greek..
Even with those faults , they pale into insignificance when compared to some other makers past or present efforts ................Type in known problems with........and insert any bike & you will see what I mean. I have been amazed lately at the faults noted with most bikes while I have been surfing the web ( try the twin cam Harley for a start http://www.jamesrussellpublishing.biz/beforeyoubuyharley.html or the early VF honda interceptor cam wear problems ) Most manufacturers have had stuff ups , some of them monumental with major mechanical problems , & that includes some of the major players from all countries .Is the Bandit perfect........no , but look closer at some of the other makers offerings i.e. honda , yamaha , ducati , triumph etc, will leave you wondering what their design department were on when they designed them, & then the bandit doesnt look so bad ...especially if you look at it realistically and take it for what it is .......an affordable , reliable bike you can do most things on . I believe Suzuki bandits aren't the only ones to suffer the fuel pump screen issue , nor would they be the first to get a dud part from a supplier ( at least they replaced the faulty rectifiers ) can't comment on the seat , ....I don't have an issue with mine .Shitty paint ( soft water based paints are now common place ...look at how the paint holds up on some cars these days ), wiring which isn't designed to keep adding accessories onto , or suspension built to a price (but still has more adjustment than some of the others in the market ) on a bike you paid $ 11 to $ 12 thousand for seems pretty good value to me , even if you add on the price of a different headlight globe on top . At least I know I can go out to ride to work , the bike will start , not conk out in the rain ( see Triumph Bonneville problems ) the bike will also perform as it should for it's design brief & do a repeat performance for the trip home .............or go on the occasional trip on it .Unlike your good self ,who was fortunate enough to get their latest ride at a fire sale price ,so therefore it has more upmarket bits ,( which would normally cost a considerable amount more) , some of us have to buy within our budget and get the best we can with the money we have available if we want to have a "new" bike and are actually happy with our choice .2wheelsagain wrote:Cant waitironMANos wrote:Thank you all guys.

Lucky for "all" manufacturers we all have different opinions isn't it .
I couldn't wait for the new bloke to start..........so I did ,.....sorry

Re: Another one Greek..
Just a few......rectifiers,broken radiators, cam tensioners(more common prob on VTR engines and less on Vara),problems with HISS cables(antithief system)unpainted plastics burned by sunlight and most of all the strength of the frame which is not so able to withstand small or medium hits in accidents.2wheelsagain wrote:Cant waitironMANos wrote:Thank you all guys.

I have also seen broken forks on 1250 but the frame was absolutely straight.
Quality is not only a shiny paintwork.........
I might start a topic just to write my thoughts about these bikes.

That's all well and good but I'm not going to remember mine with dreamy romantic music playing in the background.
A good value bike? Yes.
The best bike I've had? Far from it. (RF900R takes that spot still)

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry about 2wa he's gone all Honda on us. For less than the price of a new dirt bike the bandit bang for buck beats most bikes or there.

RD. That may be true but I have never said the Bandit was crap or anything close to that. It's shortcomings frustrated me but it did and they do serve a purpose.reddog wrote:Welcome to the forum. If I had a surban/city commute I'd still have mine I reckon. It was brilliant in traffic.
Each to their own though

You said that 1250 is not your best bike ever had,but i guarantee that VTR is your worst,no doubt.2wheelsagain wrote:That's all well and good but I'm not going to remember mine with dreamy romantic music playing in the background.

In case your front tensioner fail and you need a complete head,i would like to provide you.I bit on ebay.uk an engine for only 50 pounds plus delivery.I was about to install on Vara, but after i got informed about how thirsty of gasoline is..............i delete the project.
Someone i met once have told me about 12liters for only 90 kilometers..............Jesus Christ, you need to be gas station owner
