Hey forum friends,

I am new to the forum.  I have a 2009 GSF1250SA with just a few minor mods.  Yoshi pipe, givis, topbox, barkbuster engine guard, sergeant seat and some minor bling.  I live in north west Brisbane and ride Mt Mee, Mt Glorious and Mt Nebo on the weekends mainly.  Sometimes two up and sometimes solo if I can slip away before the wife wakes.

I would be interested in your opinion of your Sargent seat. I am interested in the way the dimensions differ from the OEM and your thoughts on the comfort of the seat. I have owned the same model as you for a number of months and although I am getting used to the seat, sometimes my bum screams out to me for relief. (figuratively speaking!)

The Sargent for me anyway is a far cry from the stock seat. Being broader it is more comfortable while riding, allowing me to do 400+ days without the airhawk. Anything more the airhawk goes on.
Of course being broader has a downside, with me being only 5'9 its a bit more of a stretch to the ground

Hey Graham thanks for the question and the welcome.    It gives me a good excuse to post.  I hope this is the right place to post an answer and not putting in a post title is also correct?   The Sargent seat is hard but not as hard as OEM but still takes some getting used to. In the end I just had to take a teaspoon of cement and toughen the f@ck up.

It has been a long while since I fitted the Sargent seat, maybe 3.5 years ago, so I really can't contrast the dimensions of the OEM. I did buy the lower Sargent seat which is the same as the stock seat when set at the lower height position.   

By way of contrast I am 5'7 87kg and find the seat a little painful at the end of a tank and am thankful for a rest while I fill up. My neighbour (6'1 - 115kg) borrowed my bike last w/e so he could take his new love for a two up through Mt Glorious.  His bike is single seat rego and 2 up is not possible.  Anyway, long story short, he returned the bike with a full tank and thanks but told me the seat was miserable for him.  However, his new love (5'3 60kg) was very happy with it.  My wife (5'2 52Kg) says the seat is brilliant when we are 2 up. So, a pillion can certainly be happy on the Sargent seat. The rider, well I think it is up to the individual's dimensions.  In particular, the taller the rider the less the thighs sit on the edges of the seat due to peg height and so the pressure of sitting is centered on their bum (gluts) while shorter riders carry more of their weight on their inner thighs (abductors).  If you are heavy rider at >90kg I reckon, the Sargent is not great at any height. On the other hand, I feel the OEM, from memory, was only good to about 75Kg.  It could be that I am a princess and need more cement.  

In any event it is no excuse not to ride more often IMHO .

I have just ordered my Sargent seat. I had good results from the one I had on my previous bike the KLR650, so I thought it should be good on the suzi too.

Hey all...I have also been feeling the pain a bit on the OEM seat, and was wondering about options.  I'm 5'7"/170cm and about 85kg, did hear good things about the Sargent seat but was also thinking maybe a lambswool cover would be a better option.  My one concern is what happens when it gets wet?  I assume it probably stays wet for many hours or even days after?

Chook, where'd you get your lambswool seat cover? 

And does anyone know who sells Sargent seats at a good price? What other alternatives are there in terms of seating?  

I don't foresee having people on the back very often so if anyone has any good single-seat solutions I'd be interested in hearing.

Went to the gp last weekend and felt fresh after the long haul rides on Saturday and Sunday. Got mine from Cruisn'comfort in Geelong, 3rd cover I have gotten from them and workmanship is excellent, you can also buy rain covers from them also.
