Jelly beans , Kit-Kat , & gingerbread men...........................
My Sony mobile informed me that there was a system update.......................nothing unusual with that except for the time it took to do it. I am now the proud owner of a Kit Kat android system instead of the jelly bean one I had ( my wife has gingerbread apparently ) Who the F$@k thinks these names up , or do they have some mysterious meaning ? Thank Christ for Mr Google , who thankfully had a list of all the upgrades done , & what all the new & different symbols on my screen now mean . I wonder what we did when we only had telephones to ring up on with our spare time

I think its when they started Android they chose "cupcake" as the code name for the version. After that they decided to stick with confectionery names for all future versions.
Why ?? who knows!

Software programmers keeping themselves in a job.
I'm a Scorpio and apparently don't like change. Too right I don't.
Bloody phones are a nightmare. Having to learn new techniques just to say "OOO, I have a pretty background"
IPad for work is even worse. Software program that we use has been a work in progress for over twelve months. Being slowly adapted for our company requirements, changing daily. It's a nightmare. But at least it supposed to be more efficient than pen and paper. Pfft!
No Idea how many hundreds of thousands of dollars have been spent so far, but the guy who implemented the whole thing no longer works for the regime.

Haha.. sounds like my work place. As for complicated the old pencil was plenty good before someone invented the ball point pen too.
As an android user I've got a google nexus 5 and have been using KitKat for nearly twelve months. Version 5L is due out soon, Lemon meringue pie apparently
It looks pretrty good, it helps with battery life too.

Re: Jelly beans , Kit-Kat , & gingerbread men...........................
We've been Beta testing OSX Yosemite for a week or so and Melody is about to install a developer distro of IOS8 on her work iPad.
Apparently they are made to integrate better.
We're both still running Gingerbread on the Samsungs though.
For anyone on a Mac Yosemite is looking good and working great with a lot of speed improvements. It does a couple of things I don't like and hopefully they're switchable in the final release.
OSX is streets ahead of Win8 if you're thinking of updating a PC/Laptop Mac is worthy of your consideration
Flame away

Holy 1000110011001 Batman - to the Batcave. Quick. Or Quack if your operating system is faulty.
Bloody hell you blokes. Sometimes I think the 'advance' in technological advance is overrated. But I've got to admit, I like the shit when it works!

I've had apple devices. After a while you get sick of paying for everything and having little control over your device. My nexus 5 phone connects with my TV, plays games really well, including most emulators so I can relive the arcade, Amiga, c64 etc. It also allows you to connect a ps3controller. The Google maps shits over apples version too. Its also less t than half the price of an iPhone. You can then sell your iPhone to some apple fan boy to recoup some money win win

Windows phone haha... There will be you and the other 3 people in the world using it.
They tried to push people to use them at our work. Other than the it manager all other people chose iPhone 5s or Samsung galaxy/notes.
Back on the iPhone bashing, I've converted nearly everyone I know from iPhone to Samsung or nexus devices. I just let them see what android is capable of. Android OS with kitkat has come in leaps and bounds from the old android which was horrible to use. Once I bought a nexus at Christmas my wife used it for half an hour and ordered one for herself. Her iPhone now sits in a cupboard doing nothing.

Now I thought this thread was just a laugh at the names the companies use, not another "this one is better" thread
