Skully Helmets

Post  snitter on Tue 19 Aug 2014, 12:06 pm

Apologies if this has already been a topic, but if not, check out the (as-yet not a thing) Skully Helmet:

I do like the idea of a heads up display and a rear vision camera...

A tad expensive for my liking.

I'll wait until a few more manufacturers start adding those features and consider it then

Bet it doesn't have a AS/NZS1698 sticker, so it can't be safe for our roads      Very Happy

Yep, I have to agree with MM. Just a tad expensive.
How much extra weight is there going to be with all that electronic crap fitted to it?

$25,000 for one of the prototypes, now there's an investment opportunity.....I wonder if it would look good with the P76 and the DeLorean  Smile

I was wondering how you touch type on the screen ?  Maybe you have to use your tongue, knew that tongue piercing would come in handy one day  Razz

Fuck me , $25 grand .........................I'd rather buy a new bike with the money ..............if it is a prototype . does that mean it has holes drilled in it , etc , making it illegal anyway   Question

The prices range from $1299 - $2649 for "production" models.
I like this "Shows critical information in your line of sight, allowing you to keep your eyes on the road ahead."
How do you keep both eyes on the road when you have a rectangular piece of plastic in front of one eyeball!!

I have seen this type of promotion before, you will note on the website

$1,277,900 Raised of $250,000 goal 899 riders

Look they apparently have raised $1.2M but only needed $250K !!
This is a pre-order campaign to generate revenue to go into production. That's why delivery is May 2015, if your lucky.
All they have are concept prototypes, no approvals of any kind yet I bet.
This could even be a scam, get payment then vanish...or go bankrupt.

 With or without flux capacitor?

Actually, I guess I was curious as to why some of these things aren't standard on helmets already. It's 2014, after all. Certainly a rear camera seems to me to be a damn good idea: most of the time, I can't really tell what's behind me unless it's a 747. And fluoro green. And on fire. And overtaking.

There's this, which is a passive system already available and I'm sure not as expensive. Smile www.reevu.com

Saw MSX-1 Reevu's on eBay for $380 incl postage, and they are even AS/NZ1698 compliant.  They are suppose to be sold at most good bike shops so some better deals might be arround.  The flip front version is model FSX-1, looks to be about $100 more.
