100,000 kl club .
We have had the Bonnie for sale on E-Bay with 92,000 kls 0n it . ( its perfect , in every way . Compression is as it came from factory )
I ve had people ring me up thinking it should read 9,200kls and $3000 cheaper than all the others . One said he had never heard or such mileage .
Another said he could spent $2000 more and get one with less kls .(that's clever )
One said he wanted mags instead of spokes (on a bonnie ? probably wanted a decal instead of a metal badge on the tank .)
I got pissed off and took the add down .We'll keep it ,add some upmarket shocks and upgrade the forks . $1000 should do it ,much less than the
give away price people would offer .
I could have put on used guages ($270) with 25,000 kls on them as this is one owner .( ) but I believe in Karma ( )
Carol can then join the 100,000 kl club .
But there isn't one . Their should be . 100,000 kls on one bike is an achievement ,not "you still riding the worn out Bonnie "?
Full membership would be only available to one owner bikes .
Junior membership for bike clocking the numbers (2 or more owners )
Advantage
You can be proud your bike has over 50,000kls and your aiming for more .
You can laugh at 8yo bikes with 4,000 kls on them
Trading bikes between members becomes feasible .
People will realise high mileage bikes are not 'shagged ".
Bike would be rewarded with a 100,000 kl + , metal badge to wear proudly for services rendered .
This thread started out as a "tongue in cheek " post but maybe it shouldn't be . Im getting excited to see the Bonnie click over and giving Carol a
big hug .

Don't sweat it Gus. WA bike riders and dealers won't touch bikes over 25k on the clock. I wouldn't be bothered as long as the bike has been maintained. Keep it and run it until it stops. Nothing wrong with the bonnie, it's not like they've upgraded them much over the years

My K7 is a member then. Bought it new, now has 102,000.
I dont want no Steenking Badgers though.
I'll just wait to enter it again at 200 and then 300.
Mind you, I don't think that will happen with my KTM. It didn't make the 20,000 club without a valve train rebuild

I like your way of thinking Gus.
It wouldnt be too expensive to have a sticker made up.
Its all about the maintenance and gow the bike has been treated.
Bikes will rot if not ridden. Keep riding the Bonnie she's costing you nothing

I like the idea Gus - I'll ride another 38,000 kms as fast as I can just to get the decal!

You'll need two decals - one for your bike and one for your fork oil.

Re: 100,000 kl club .
I don`t understand people....a lot of dumb arses out there.
Here`s my theory, if you`ve got a bike, and had it for say, 10yrs, and only have 20 000k`s on it, you must be a very inexperienced ridder anyway, working on the basis, its your only bike. If you`ve got a barn full of bikes, I`d expect lower k`s on a bike, but if not, your not ridding enough.
If a bike was a rare collectors item( no offence Gus) you would probably expect an item to have bugger all k`s on it, and maybe priced accordingly.
Everything depreciates the minute it leaves the show room, but to just give an item away is stooopid, unless your desperate for cash, then that's another story all together. So you may as well keep them and bury them I say.
Unless of course your silly rich, and buy the next latest and greatest bike each year, and don`t give a shit about the lose incurred upon doing so, than go for your life.
When I`m contemplating buying a bike, I first look at reputation, then service history, then test ride. If all things add up, I`ll fork out.

Re: 100,000 kl club .
I think that some bikes can do the big k's, with maintenance, and still be viable. Where as others would need a rebuild or at least some engine work at 30k.
Low reving torque machines rarely going above 6000rpm vs short stroke sewing machines spinning out to 18000rpm.
The layman, in Australia, is used to cars exceeding 2 or 3 hundred thousand km, due to the vast distances we cover as a matter of course. (These figures are exceptional in the UK, where a 90 mile trip was only undertaken once or twice a year, due to the vast distance. (Personal experience) It's all relative.)
With regards to motorcycles, I think that people see the engines as high performance, tight tolerance, high maintenance things that spin at least twice the revs of their car and as a result must be worn out at anything over 25k.
There are people who know that this is not the case and, being astute, can make some great purchases of used bikes.
Unfortunately, selling high km bikes is not easy.
Keeping the Triumph is a wise decision, Gus.
New Triumph worked very hard to build its brand reputation, and loose the unreliable label, through exceptional engineering.
The 675 mill was bench tested at full revs for 1000 hours, before Triumph would release it to the world. Thats over a month singing its tits off day and night. Impressive.

Re: 100,000 kl club .
Its on solo rego ,thats About $230 for rego a year . Not worth selling ,especially after I took the sv up the highway yesterday . it seemed a to be doing it hard after 100kph .Was looking for another gear . We do Qld to Vic return a bit and I'm not sure if 650cc will be that easy as the 800cc Bonnie.
We are off to Tin Can Bay today so the long straights can test Carol idea of it . (sv)
Around twisties and local its fantastic and my first pic in the shed .

If you want money from big km bikes its probably best to part the bike out on eBay. I reckon the triumph would easily have another 100000 left in it

Got it down to 112 kph . $150 and 0ne point . Got to be happy with that , I told him I'd been looking for him all day but had a " zone out moment ".
My own fault he was in a huge 4wd , hardly hard to see if I had been looking .
