E-Bay .............. Empty E-Bay ..............

Post  gus Mon 02 Jun 2014, 5:11 pm

It confuses me .
Ive seen the same two items from the same country for sale . Cost is triple and so is freight on one of them .Same distance ,same part . Neutral
Any way .
After good results with a shock for the Bandit I decided the sv 650 could probably do with a better shock as the original has 94,000 kls on it .
It looks like this (not pretty ,and oily )
E-Bay .............. Sv650shock001

I did some investigating and general opinion was a zx 600\30 shock was the go for a good spring and fit .
Trouble is the year I needed is a bit dated so I may end up with one with 95,000 kls . Cost generally was $70 freight (states ) and $90 for shock
of unknown history .
Now the strange E-Bay connection
One turned up on E-Bay for $1.00 Yes one dollar and $67 freight . I said to Carol can you buy  me that expecting it to say "sorry item widthdrawn , or
send me your bank details and life savings )
Two weeks later this turned up ,perfect cond and fit .
E-Bay .............. Sv650shock003-1
$1.07  plus freight . E-Bay it confuses me .

Certainly looks good Gus.  Even new.

There are certainly some strange things on eBay's operation.  Some electric fence items I bought recently had either zero or very reasonable postage.  But if you wanted them in a hurry, express postage added $700 to a $35 item!  Shocked  So, I knew then I wasn't in a hurry!

Exactly . Postage for a shock $70, Postage for a plastic cover $90 .
I took notice of the postage price on the box the shock came in $25 so the$1 shock was really Frieght $25 Part $46  . Sounds more sensible .

Gus, postage cost written on the box may or may not help you. I have received and sent lots of stuff both within Aus and OS and the stupid post system does not show extra things like insurance and tracking. Any how, you got a good deal me thinks  Very Happy

Oh, and working for the post...cost of sending has gone up a shed load recently both local and international mail.

I remember reading somewhere that sellers on eBay only pay fees on the cost of the item not postage.

Not sure if that's true as if it was wouldn't everyone do it that way so not to pay too much on the seller fees ?

It's good consipracy theory anyway.....

Correct, sell a item for $1.00 and charge plenty for postage, you get your $$$$ and don't have to pay eBay a arm and a leg

Plenty of them doing it too, particularly from the states. It effectively fixes the price of the auction at a minimum figure. Then they pay bugger all in fees, but can get into trouble with ebay if someone complains about the postage costs.

Just got a Paypal Receipt message in my spam filter for something I didn't purchase (work from an Indian Construction Company called SUNDARAM ???).

I usually disregard anything in the Spam Filter but had nothing to do so I tried to get into the Paypal site from within eBay  (never ever follow links from within suspicious emals kids !!) to see if anything was showing up and the site was down.  I checked with a couple of other server checking web sites, they all show Paypal is down.

Wonder if the spam message and Paypal being down is related ?

 Shocked
