So i thougt id post a bit of an update after trading my bandit in for a chook chaser.
Been on a couple of rides now. The mighty DRZ only fell over once. Silly thing.
Going out again tomorrow to explore some dirt roads in the Watagans state forest.
Loving going out on the dirt. I should have done it years ago.
I do miss my Bandit, but not as much as i thought i would. I beleive the dealership i traded her to has already sold it. I hope she now has a loving family.

If any of you blokes ride on dirt, we should organise a ride some time soon. Hopefully have loads of pics to share with you after tomorrow.

Good to hear you are still having fun on two wheels Cameron. If you haven't already consider adding bark busters, radiator braces, bash plate and most of all case savers as the DRZ has a habit of holing the side cases in the event of a tip over.

I've had some pretty decent stacks on my DRZ and the bike took it without a problem. Oh after market bars are a good option too, the stockers are made of chinese steel. Next ride out I'll take some pictures for you.

Here's a pic of my beast a couple of years ago, I couldn't clean it after the ride as I was nursing broken ribs from a slow speed get off, I could still take photos though. My good wife gave it a clean, she took pity on the cripple Smile

I agree completely about the various guards, I have had some mighty off's on my DRZ and nearly had a long walk home when I caved in the left had radiator on one of these unplanned stops. She now has rad guards.
That said the damn things are bullet proof, and they play nicely in the water.
I've dropped on tooth on the front, makes the bike nice and easy to ride in the rough stuff, you can be one gear too high, and the torque will pull you through, however she is now no good for a good long road ride. I am lucky that I have my GSX1250 for that.
If you can afford it, I highly recommend one of the rides out of Cairns, Cape York Motorcycle Tours do a top little 3 day trip. I am trying to scrap the coin together to do the Cairns to tip of Oz with them.

Btw. Bikebiz has a special on Pirelli mx Extra tyre sets. 180 to the door. Really happy with them, much better than stock. I have also fitted a kick start to my bike, for those times the battery just doesn't have enough charge. Suzuki should leave them as standard fitment.

If you are planning a trip with cape york motorcycles tours, let me know. I may join you.
I have a big list of things to add to the bike.

Hi all, not to be left out, I bought a 2005 DR650 to also have a go in the bush (still managed to keep my Bandit, being a bachelor and all Wink ). It is seriously the best bike ever. Air cooled, 650 single. Running dual sport tyres at the moment, so it is a bit loose to say the least. Also went one tooth down on the front sprocket cause it was geared way too high, doing 120kph easily still in fourth! Best part is I can ride it 150km to get to the dirt, ride all day, then commute home and still be comfortable.

The mighty DR.

Considering Cam stacked it 2mins into the ride in this puddle, don't think any Cape York adventures are on the cards yet...

Heaps to explore within 2 hours of Sydney.

Once you get past the first 1:45 this is quite funny, sad (for the bike) but funny....

Hey guys, not getting out on the Bandit much at the moment with too many toys and other such things getting in the way.

But I have started making some videos on my new GoPro Hero3. Only offroad and car stuff at the moment but will make some on the Bandit soon.

Here's a video of me chasing Cam and his mates in Wollemi National Park. I'm on dual-sport tyres and struggling badly. Also experiencing a lack of talent.  Smile

This must be where I should have posted this, 22 fords on the old road from Nundle to Scone bit rough and slippery as it was raining lightly the whole way.
Piece of cake for the young'uns on the real off-roaders.
