Tokico pads in EBC pack

Post  V17R on Sun 25 May 2014, 12:18 pm

I went to the bike shop the other day and asked for EBC HH pads, he gave me two open packs and said because they had been opened he would sell them cheap.
However I just noticed the pads say Tokico 0891 and under that Toyo C93F HH
The packaging days Extreme Pro by EBC pt no. EPFA158HH
also someone has obviously tried to install them as they have piston marks on the back of the pads
Question is are EBC and Tokico the same product?

I think you'll find the Toyo's are factory pads and you and the shop have been diddled.
I'd say some one bought the EBC HH's and returned them with the toyos inside for a refund. The shop gets ripped off so they pass them onto you cheaply

somehow not surprised they have a bad rep in town, but need them now and they are a Suzuki dealer and said they had them in stock
are the EBC pads much better. I paid $40 a side

There is (imo) nothing wrong with OEM Suzuki pads.  I have tried OEM, Hardie-Ferodo HH and Braking SM1 with not much between them. BTW just bought some Braking Racing pads for the gixxer direct from Italy, (couldn't get them anywhere else), and guess what?  Pack says made in Japan...

I`m with Dekenai on this one.

I have used in the past, sintered pads on many occasions, and got sick of them chewing my discs out.

A bit of a different case as I have a gen 2, which shares the same calliper with the early Busa, GSXR, and SV.

After a bit of research, found they have different compounds, and as such, I use the 01-02 gixer pads, which are slightly softer, and work as well as full sintered, but don`t chew the disc to bits.

I`d keep with OEM personally.

its up to you mate, but I personally think sintered pads suck arse big time, unless you have a disc to cope with the harshness of sinter.

I`ve done 177 000kms on my bike( not now counting a new engine, but total distance), and up to the around 110 000k mark, I had gone through two sets of discs, and started on a second hand pair. I changed back to OEM, and got a very good deal on OEM discs( don`t even bother unless you get a good deal as they are a stupid price RRP!!) and the discs are still in very very good shape, and only wear pads now, and not the disc.

I forgot to ad, that sintered squeal like a pig as well, which use to shit me!

They are not Sintered they're Organic and the dealer recommended these against sintered pads for the same reason you suggest.
