Marquez, how good is he?

Post  Jimmy the Boy on Tue 20 May 2014, 7:07 am

First topic message reminder :

How good is Marquez? After dropping back to 10th at the start of the French GP ( not so good ), and then just rounded everybody up in no time at all and went round them like they were standing still. It was unbelievable to watch. It wasn't a matter of him having a superior bike, you only had to look ay the lines he was taking through the corners to see he was a class above everyone else, including Rossi. I really wish Casey hadn't retired so we could watch these two go head to head. Casey would have his measure at the Island but I'm not so sure about elsewhere. He's won the first 5 GP's of the season now breaking Mike Hailwood's record. I wonder how far he can stretch this winning streak, stay tuned. Thoughts?

Sorry Hammy and MM, it was post and run yesterday morning. The cunning kit is empty at the moment MM so I will have to refrain from splurging. Hammy those odds were with Centrebet. You've obviously looked at the TAB in the pub. Gee $1.25 is unders. Not sure what that little prick Waterhouse is paying.

For moto3 and 2 check out http://wiziwig.tv

This gp should be good. Iannone knocked off the GP top speed with a 350kph which is impressive. If he can stay on for longer than a few laps he might be able to mix it up. Unless MM falls off I doubt anyone has a chance to knock him off, although Jorge is starting to get his shot together finally.

I think if Stoner was still riding, It would be better racing.
Marquez is a very good rider, But I think he has beaten the other boys before they even get on there bikes.
I like Pedrosa, But his time is up. Give that bike to someone who is hungry and rides on the edge.

Will CS27 make a comeback?    It possible!

What a magnificent race, the battle for between Marc and Jorge was outstanding. I still can't believe the lean angle Marc achieves. I'm not sure of the actual physics involved but a lean of 63 degrees can't be far off falling over, its remarkable.
MM I wish Id had money on it now. Hope someone took my tip.

It was a cracker of a race alright.  Overtaking at our speeds would be bad enough but hard on the stoppers from 350kmph - no thanks!

Well thats 10 in a row. No reason why he can't get the whole 18 if he stays uninjured. We might be witnessing the greatest GP rider of all time here. Fantastic that its happening in our era, its great to watch. Smile

Put someone else decent on the other Honda and let's see how he goes. The Honda is leaps and bound in front of everyone else

Put Jorge Lorenzo on it and the racing would be awesome!

I'd like to see someone with balls on it. Chuck Cal Crutchlow or one of the Espargaro's the keys and give Dani a CRT Honda. So many years in GP and so little achieved. He is a good wingman, but under pressure he is hopeless.

I would though like to hear another anthem other than the Spanish one to be perfectly honest. Can't wait for Jack to arrive.

The news is that Jack just signed for LCR Honda.

Re: Marquez, how good is he?

I agree with you up to a point RD. I'm not the general of the Marquez cheer squad and I would love to see Crutchlow win, thats who Ive been following. But even taking the superiority of the Honda out of the equation, he still has to ride it hard and keep it upright. He hasn't won all of the GPs by half a lap, there have been some awesome battles with Jorge where he's only just pipped him on the last lap, so its not like he's not wringing its neck. I think he's been incredibly strong mentally as well, there has to be some pressure mounting on him on the back of all these wins. I just think its a great effort, thats all.
It would be interesting to see everyone on exactly the same bike ( bar a few suspension set ups for weight and feel ) and see the out come after 5 or 6 races. I don't think he would win them all, but it would be interesting.
I'm totally with you on the Spanish national anthem brother, I could live happily never having to hear it again. Smile

Stick him on a mid 80's 500cc widow maker and see what he can do  What a Face

He has enormous talent but he's riding a bunch of electronics  bounce
Probably a second or 2 better than me on a Bandit Laughing

He has been very lucky too, With all the offs he has had of late!
It seems every time someone falls off they brake something, But not Marquez.
I think the kid is good, But not as good as most people say.
A young man with no fear and on the best bike. If Espargaro had the same bike, As RD said. The racing would be Awesome and not predictable!
If Jack & Cal are getting HRC customer LCR Honda's next year should be good.

I reckon he has been playing with everyone. The boy can ride, there is no one denying it. Look at how he stuffs up the start into first corner in seventh and then by lap 5 be in front by a second. The doctor was unbeatable until he super manned of the Yamaha a couple of years back. Marquez has been very lucky with his crashes that he hasn't been seriously injured.

I agree with you 2w. Those 500s were high side city Smile imagine them with modern rubber, brakes and traction control
