Hi all, I found this site while searching for info on low throttle surging. Been to the Two Wheeled Texans site where there are few Aussies posting on the topic. Anyway, I have started the process of getting my bike more rideable by resetting the throttle sensor, balancing the throttle bodies and removing the secondary butterflies. I am waiting for a Carbtune to balance the TB's properly but have bottomed the air screws then backed off 1/2 a turn and the bike is running better already. It's nice to have a local forum for our bikes, cheers.

Welcome mate. Its good to talk to the bandit lovers here at the home of the bandit in oz.

I had very little in the of surging and once i removed PAIR's with yoshi pipe and K&N on the bike was super smooth.

Thanks for the welcomes. I have ridden bikes most of my life, stopped ridding to raise kids now back into it. This is my first 4cyl and FI and people told me I just needed to get used to FI, but the thing is a pig to ride below 3000 rpm, have to slip the clutch for any sort of control, not quite the torquie tractor all the reports suggested. The bike would not sit on 60kmh, I had to select a lower gear and rev past 3000rpm to have a steady throttle, it felt like riding a 250 having to rev it all the time. It was obviously running lean and hopefully the mods I have done will rectify the problem. Just bought some resistors for the O2 bypass this morning. Not sure how the mods have effected things as still waiting to balance the TBs. The bike is a 07 GSF1250s and is standard other than Nonfango panniers on homemade racks and Ventura rack/bag. Cheers.

Did you test ride the thing?
Sounds like some sort of vacuum leak to me.
Shouldn’t be any need to reengineer the fuelling system. I know some do but I have the theory there.
What have Suzuki said about it?

I bought it off my 70 yr old neighbour who put 10000km from new, all touring no short trips, he looked after the bike fantastic so I knew the history. I think different riding styles and perhaps some ignorance from him about engine behavior made him unaware of the shortcomings of the motor. I checked for leaks. I am just fine tuning what Suzuki let pass through quality control with the TB sync and TPS adjustment, that may have fixed the problem, but while I had the TBs off I removed the secondaries and am doing the o2 bypass after much research as I saw only good feedback to these mods. Cheers.
