Replacing the Mower Deck
We have a Husqvarna ride on mower (LTH797) that has had the crap beaten out of the deck over the past 6 years. After many welding episodes and yet more fractures, I decided to replace it. There were a few dramas.
First, Cooma Power Equipment couldn't manage to order the right replacement unit - in the end I gave up on them and got the right one first time from the Bega agent.
Second, Husqvarna clearly never wanted you to change over the pulleys and bearing units - I had to get a 1 metre extension pipe onto the socket handle to undo some of the nuts.
Third, all of the nuts welded onto the deck had no threads cut into them (some problem with quality control somewhere). Luckily I had at same stage in the past bought a cheap tap and die set - luckily I did as I had to tap four threads.
But after that mucking around it is back on the mower and working fine (had to add some extra washers to get the deck level - seems the linkage holes have worn a bit over 6 years.
PS: the post maintenance beer tasted sweet!

It's always a good feeling, refurbishing something yourself, knowing that you have just saved yourself enough money to buy that new rear tyre.
Well done with the taps.

Jeez.. by the sounds of it you should have bought something other than a Husqvarna. Good work on getting it together. I would've stopped at the tapping bit and gone and spoke to the dealer about the shit quality

Re: Replacing the Mower Deck
They now make three models with fabricated decks (ie not just pressed metal). They are like dreadnoughts! Wish they'd been around 6 years ago. Clearly Husqvarna has recognised the need for mowers with stronger cutting units. I'm now tempted to sell mine, whilst it is in good nick, and buy one of these new units.

Lmao. I think their name must have hit sales at least to some extent.
I hope you don't ride on Cox. Na mate, I've got a Husqvarna.
