Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
First topic message reminder :
Ok, here's my thoughts on a Bandit meet up for 2015.
As per the topic title, Parkes is the meeting place. The time is March 6-8 2015. The Coachman Hotel/Motel is where we have booked in to stay.
I'm thinking of a 180 odd km ride on the Saturday that encompasses Manildra, Cudal, Eugowra, Forbes & back to Parkes.
JTB has also suggested a ride out to Temora as there is a aviation show on at the Temora airfield. (I hope I got that right)
Anyone interested in this?
Cheers, Kiwisteve
For anyone that hasn't seen this post before, I've done a heap of editing to simplify things.
C'mon folks, let's get a few more people along to this.

I would love to make it there again, one day. Just the long haul flight puts me off.
When I retire, or win big, I plan on following the GP around the world for a season. Will go to the TT then.

I'm pretty keen for 2015, anyone else from SA interested in going as well?
2 years ago I stayed at the Riverina Hotel in Hay, $35 for a twin room, would be a good stop over for at least the trip over, maybe stay somewhere closer to home on the way back
Any of those places or anywhere in between would be a good destination, a easy 2 days ride, anyone like me that can't find Yeovil, try Yeoval

I'll change the spelling of Yeoval in the original post

Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
you could make it a bigger trip and a few South Aussies on the way through
FWIW, from a SA point of view either Binnaway or Coolah would also fit into a 2 day ride to get there, I've done both Adelaide to Coonabarabran and Adelaide to Coonamble in 2 days, both your suggestions are still a bit closer

Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
I like the idea of going to Binnaway. When someone asks where did you go , you just say Binnaway. They reply, Yes, but where did you go. Just Binnaway ! On and on and on and on...........
Sorry. Just my warped mind in gear again.

Seriously. We want somewhere that has good bike roads, and or something of interest that is happening at the time. No Ewok. We're not going to a wine festival.

maybe somewhere around the Flinders Ranges in the future would be a good "Middle Of Australia" location, bit short for us but could ride to the border and meet you on the way over.
Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
The logistics of being able to get everyone ( that is willing ) in the same place , at the same time is near impossible. Sad fact. I like the idea of somewhere near the SA/Vic/NSW borders. But then the roads out there are probably boring as hell. Someone will come up with a good place.

I'll be in for that as well as a Bandit 2015 meet (wherever it is).

Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
If it goes ahead I'm, 95% sure to be going.
Is there anyone else from SA considering the trip?
Is there any females considering going?
My (by then) 16yo daughter got wind of the trip and said "cool, when is it, I can't wait", she's traveled thousands of km two up with me and is pretty keen to do any long trips on the bike, I'm just not too keen on taking her if she will be the only female.

Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
My wife, Chris, went to Drake and made special comment on how down to earth the guys were.
"Not a wanker amongst them"
And I'm pretty sure that we'll be attending 2015.

I hope some of the other blokes down your way look at coming up to it.
Unfortunately, my daughter doesn't seem all that interested in riding with me at this time. If she does decide to come with me, she is about the same age as your daughter chook.

Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
That sounds promising. How old is your daughter Kiwisteve? would it help interest her if she knew someone else her age was going?, you might have to work on her a bit
If your wife was going again Bosco, I think Kaylah would be pretty happy with that as well, she gets on with adults/teens/kids equally well, we've got 12 months to work on her mum now, lasy trip was to Moranbah, QLD and the Mrs didn't sleep too well for the 16 days we were away

How about Bathurst during the 12 hour production (car) racing weekend in February, just an idea, plenty of good roads in the area? I'm in Central Queensland not much good riding up here.

Not a bad idea, but...... That's when the law will be out in force and getting accommodation maybe an issue. JMHO.

Re: Bandit meet 6-8 March 2015 Parkes NSW
Or maybe a track day somewhere like Phillip island followed by riding to SA via GOR or Canberra via the Snowy's, or Sydney Motorsports Park (new Easton Creek) followed by the infamous Putty road, or even Queensland Raceway followed by a ride in the Mountains Nebo, Glorious.
Dorrigo is a really nice quite little place inland from Coffs Habour that I stayed at on my way to the 2012 Motogp it also had fantastic riding all around the area I really wished I had time to explore the area a bit more.
I do think we need to come up with a solid date and location though, so that we all have plenty of time to get involved (put in leave requests convince the misses etc.), you can see how nailing something down becomes like herding cats , someones always gonna feel left out, which can be disapointing for all Hope It's not me, I really wanna go Ive always loved big rides, touring, even planning them is fun sometimes

Plus we've already done Bathurst and some of the roads around it
