I think that is a great idea. 140km/h is a  great cruising speed. Enough of an increase to take a big chunk out of your travel time, and not stupidly fast. 
Only have to watch out for the rolling road blocks that learners create traveling at 80.

Your right, great idea on the open highway but I'm happy with the 40-50k/h in suburban streets and I think most motorists would be.

Some 70 zones that should be 80, with some 80s that should be 90.

140 on a dual lane highway with the learners sitting in the left lane wouldn't be a problem either

I'm in total agreement with Gus.
It would be nice if the limit was put up to 120 on divided highways tho!
I think 100 - 140 would cause a huge amount of caos for a multitude of the people out there that call themselves "drivers". I think 120 would be way too scarey for a lot of those afore mentioned "drivers"!

Remember:  Every K that they increase the limit means less revenue, I mean fines, for the states.
