Airhawk Seat Pad?
Hi fellas, doing the "Long Ride" in May and after a 900klm weekend ride to Munduberra and back to Brissy with the missus, realised the need for some serious cushioning. Most of the others had Airhawk's and swore by them, they were on cruisers though and I wanted to make sure the Airhawk recommended for the Bandit works! Your thoughts? Cheers, Lucky.

Re: Airhawk Seat Pad?
Hiya Lucky,
I rode the Black Dog Ride yesterday, and I used my Airhawk (that was bought for a honda cb400) on the Bandit. Thank God I did too, as it was a bumpy ride home. I did have to let a bit of air out though, and I had placed it cross-wise over the seat so it wouldnt be bulky behind me. I have also used it on my Street Triple, and it makes a big difference.

airhawke seat
Used the AirHawk on a 2000+ km snowy run not long back, was great but really came into its own on the long boring ride back down the HoHum hwy back to melbourne. I would highly recommend them

While I've never used the Air Hawk, my wife has used a cheap alternative and loved it.

+1 for the air hawk. My only is what Suzy talked about, the med cruiser seat needs to be a touch smaller so it doesn't bunch up behind you. If you do get one only have enough air so you can just feel the seat. It will feel weird to start with but you will get used to it.

Re: Airhawk Seat Pad?
Why don't motorcycle manufacturers make seats with air pockets under the vinyl, in the right places?

Re: Airhawk Seat Pad?
How about manufacturers make seats made of memory foam, so that it forms to the shape of your butt, and yet cushions it too? Or is that just too obvious for men to think of? lolBaz wrote:Why don't motorcycle manufacturers make seats with air pockets under the vinyl, in the right places?

Re: Airhawk Seat Pad?
Yep, go the Airhawk.
Huge ongoing benefit to the bottom end for relatively little outlay.
Easily removable (by others who might like an airhawk), so I do store it (pannier) if parked for a while.
I don't know, but I also imagine the sun might cook it if left in the sun too long. Another reason I take it off and store.
Cheers, GG

If left in sun, yep it fades, but replaceable covers are $50. I use a seat cover when leaving bike in sun for any great length of time, that I bought from Goodwool.com.au

Re: Airhawk Seat Pad?
Thanks Suzy,
Mine's an AirHawk 2. I don't know how the original covers last, mine's only a few month old and still looks like new. I guess the inners can stand the sun/heat as well as any other plastic bit on the bike........and I do avoid sun parking when I can.
I am happy if I get a couple of years out of the whole thing really. Worth every cent.

Has the Goodwool seatcover been worthwhile?
(Adelaide Hills is a fair ride from Swan Hill, just as well you are on a Bandit )

Oops forgot to mention we were on hubbys triumph tiger. Hubby hax the sheepskin cover on tiger, and bought the plastic elasticated cover, so i have one too. He likes the sheepskin, but its just not soft enough for my butt, so airhawk was good to have.
Suzy couldnt make this trip, she needs new tires, but the street triple would have had a good workout.

Re: Airhawk Seat Pad?
Any thoughts on comparo between "Air Hawk Vs Sargent seat"?
Which is best?
I have a sheepskin cover, which is OK, but just does not cut it on the longer rides.
I am starting to think that getting this sorted IS the number one priority Mod!

I bought some but haven't fitted them yet, keep an eye out for my report in the product review section ... when the rain stops.

Re: Airhawk Seat Pad?
Well I now have the sargent seat and an airhawk and so far it's very comfy. Only doing 40 odd k trips to work, but will give a report when I do a longer run on one of the up coming weekends.
With the sargent and the airhawk you still appear to sit much lower than the stock seat on stock height. without the air hawk on the Sargent it's got to be an inch and a half difference. Well it feels that much and you tend to be in a slightly more upright riding position. Not much but it makes the bike feel weird the first couple of times with the new combo.

Yep wouldn't leave home without it. 700ks in one morning, only got off to fuel up and no pain.

Re: Airhawk Seat Pad?
Hi
Spoke to the guys at Airhawk before I bought mine (GSX650F) their advise
Inflate then sit on it and slowly let out air till your butt is cushioned but not touching the seat. If you have too much air, it is not doing it's job

I have both. The sargent seat is fine for short runs and I have used a wool cover also and found it works even better. But for longer runs I use the airhawk. Just make sure you use it as Airhawk has advised. I have mine so I can just feel the seat and it works really well. But I always feel it lets down the good looks of the sargent seat.
