Anybody that uses a sargent seat can you give me you opinion?what is the difference between stock and a sargent ? Angle,measurement difference, foam harder or softer, wider or narrower etc. thanks as I'm thinking if going this route instead of a gel cushion

When I first bought my bike I took the seat to AMC in Melbourne to have it reshaped, new foam and slightly lowered. I still found the seat uncomfortable on long rides.
I managed to pick up a low version Sargent seat off one of the forum members for a very good price.
The sargent is wider at the rear of the seat, making it good for long distance cruising, narrower at the front for when you need to reach the ground. I find it much better than the original. However I reckon its only good for about 400ks, anything over that and I use an Airhawk.
If I was going to replace it I would by a Corbin seat. An even better shape and more comfortable.

PM boatz and ask what he thinks, he bought a Sargent, tried it for the Cowra meet last year, hated it. Sold it and bought a Corbin and AFAIK loves it.

Thing is it going to be an individual preference. What suits one might not suit another.

Before spending CRAZY money on top name seats, I would try the remoulding/refoaming first. I did. And I did an 800+ K ride in a day no complaints.  Trust me.  Twisted Evil

+1 Hammy.
A good upholsterer will give you as good, if not better, results as the name brand aftermarket seats. Save you more than a few hundred dollars too.
There are quite a few web threads on doing it yourself, which I plan on tackling. The most challenging part, by all accounts, are the staples which hold the cover on to the base.
Having said that, when I sat on Boatz bike, I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

You have only put 220kms on your new bike and i say give it a go for a few more k's!

I actually don't find the seat that bad and have had some 700km days on it. Your glutus maximus and thigh muscles get used to it and as long as you have a few stops for fuel and coffee etc, it really isn't that bad.

It'll save you all the fussing about and a couple of bucks aswell!

I've got a good lambswool cover I use all the time in summer and on any long trips, I find the seat quite ok and I've done plenty of 500-700km days with a few 800 - 900km days as well

Being female, with a bony ass (not that anyone can tell that bit), I find the standard seat not so bad, but I do use the airhawk for a long ride, but
you have to make sure its not over inflated anyway. Shorter trips I don't even use that.

I got the >>> seat and i can say that personally............... I think there great compared to that OEM plank of crap that Mr japan stuck on an called it seat.I used 2 ride from Albion Park nsw to Coolangatta  every F/N 4 work, 945ks 10 1/2 hrs,
that was a 2 coffee trip and 3 fuel stops an my ass was still there at the end of the trip............ so i think there a sweet seat
4 any distance.......................  Very Happy

I have had the Sargent seat for almost three years now and love it. I have done several 1,000+ km days on it and never had an issue. A very comfy seat indeed, and well worth the price if u can afford it.

The original seat had me in pain within the first 100 k's, the every 50 after. Awful.

I've got a Corbin.  It's in leather, and on and off the bike a bit.  I'm not sure if I'm really in love with it.  It's wider and lower (noticeably more bend in knees while riding) than stock seat, softer.  The ground is noticeably closer, though height isn't why I bought it.  I haven't gone far enough in one go to really test it.

I'm short, at 5'7" so the lower height is somewhat useful, but it makes me sit a little more rearwards than the stocker. I'm not sure I like this. (easy fix with sheepskin)  Easier to move around on a bit than the stocker (Width). Would be very plush with an air hawk on it.  Because it is wider (or does it just feel like it, because it is flatter?) I notice the edge of the seat when putting a foot down. 

Better than the stock seat, but worth the price?  I bought second-hand so seemed like a proposition at the time.  I don't think it's worth raving about.  It just seemed like a sensible proposition rather than reworking the one seat I had.  After I've had the bike a little longer, maybe I'll rework the less comfortable one.  I really bought it for the opportunity to play around with the seat a bit and keep the bike on the road at the same time.  

Actually I don't think there is a lot wrong with the shape of the stock seat, that a different grade of foam wouldn't fix.

This might read like a less than glowing report, but let me say it is certainly a better seat than the stocker in terms of comfort - at least over the short rides I've had on it.  The jury is out over the long haul.

My mate and I have allowed four days to get across (900km/day). After the race we have another two weeks riding around Victoria and NSW before heading home via the Great Ocean Road. I've done the Nullarbor a couple times in the car so I'm not worried about missing the touristy stuff.

First impressions from a short 50km ride. 

With stock handlebar position, the seat isn't comfortable. The seat doesn't allow you to lean forward as it cups your backside and this creates pressure points at the front of the seat. I went home and put on my bar risers which bring the bars up and towards you. With these on, sitting more upright, the seat is excellent. 

The seat holds you on the bike, I wasn't sliding forwards or sideways, reducing the amount you need to hold on with your inner thighs when braking and cornering, so if you like to hang off, this seat won't suit you. 

I'm doing a long ride on the weekend so I'll report back after that.

A great idea is the little pocket under the seat. Fits a puncture repair kit no problem.
