Hi all,
Am going through the process of deciding on new bike. Am currently looking at the Bandit 1250sa after eliminating several others or various styles, makes and models. Have quote of new from shop.
Wondering about fuel consumption? I guess I can expect it to be slightly better than or similar to a small 4cyl car. Not likely to be as good as my current sv650.
Working through accessories. Looking at Carbon Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust; a pannier frame and engine guard.
Am considering a small paint job to lift the personality of the bike. Probably just add highlights or trim to spark it up some.

Any (other) suggestions for me at this stage?

Also wondering what the difference is between model designations GSX and GSF in relation to the Bandit 1200/1250 series?

Need to get an idea of standard maintenance costs of next three years. I must remember to ask the dealer.

Simon

G'day swild, I came to a Gsf1200s from an 02 sv650s. Both of these beasts are carbied bikes. I've found that if I don't ride the bandit like I stole it Laughing (Scuse the pun), I get nearly the same fuel mileage as the sv.
On your question of 1200/ 1250, you'll find the 1200 has an air/oil cooled, carbied motor with a bullet proof 5 speed box. The 1250 has a water cooled fuel injected motor, with a 6 speed box that I have not heard anyone complain about. The 1250 also has the option of coming with ABS brakes.
Hope this helps. Cheers, Steve

As far as I know, the difference between GSX and GSF is the "full" fairing comes on the GSX.
The GSF have only a smaller fairing (or no fairing at all) depending on the model of Bandit.

And of course - Welcome

Hello and welcome.

Im averaging 5l/100km, mostly commuting. My slip on aftermarket muffler has no effect on consumption.

Any paint you "add" to the 1250 will be a bonus - the factory paint is bloody thin!! Road grime is cheaper than paint Wink

Maintenance costs will vary depending on the dealer.

Hope this helps.

And because it ends with "X" instead of "F" the insurance companies charge more because they need to take off their shoes to get that far down the alphabet Shocked

Officially Suzuki themselves refuse to call the GSX1250FA a Bandit, so that may have something to do with the different designation.

The 'F' in GSX1250FA means fairings and the 'A' of course is ABS.

Other differences are; 2 cooling fans on the radiator, the front forks have different springs, (not that you'll notice). The instrument cluster is also different and includes a gear position indicator.

Thanks everyone for your friendly welcomes and helpful responses.
I know I want one. Haven't found many negatives about the bike that attitude can't address.
Now just need to move heaven and earth for the gods to see their way clear to granting me my desires.
Will stay in touch.

I took delivery of the new Bandit 1250sa last weekend. Still a few accessories to add to it but loving the ride.
