i know this would only appeal to a few people, but a couple of weeks ago i bought a pair of lenehan ML3 speakers. they weigh 80kg each, and they are made in Qld. i have to say utterly brilliant devices that sound like they cost three times their price. these things are in another league altogether

and on a somewhat cheaper note for those in areas where you can get digital radio, i bought a Pure Contour ipod radio thing from JB for a hundred bucks [was on special]. i dont use ipods as the sound is crap, but if they are still selling them for this, then get one - top value

The speakers sound good - I'll be looking for some decent hifi gear in the next 12 months. Always happy to support a quality aussie product.

Thanks for the info Masher. I will be looking for new speakers in the near future. Can I ask how much?

Enjoy them! I'm in no hurry though to change my Ambience Ribbons.

The amps are Nuforce P9 pre and Ref9V2 monoblocks. For cd playback I use an Oppo/Nuforce BDP83 Special Edition disc spinner, Advance Audio Australia turntable (like Rega), Linn Basik Plus tone arm, Ortofon MC20 Supreme cartridge, Consonance PM2 (tube) pre pre for the turntable. Been slowly building this system over a long time and I am very happy with it. The speakers are Ambience Ribbon Super slim 1800s with upgraded crossovers and internal wiring. The are one of the first built by Tony Moore and were his demonstrators until he brought out the high efficiency models - they have done thousands of hours and are very smooth.

tannoy and some of the others there are good but you need to have a listen to them and see if you like the sound because they all can sound different.

You won't regret going for the Oppo. The Nuforce upgrade is icing on the cake. I bet your class a amp makes the power meter spin!
