Kevlar Jeans ,the big question .
I come to the conclusion that "draggin jeans " are only good for one season .In the second season they look o.k but are very week
across the top of the knee kevlar .By the 3rd reason you can pull them apart by hand .Which i have done to STOP myself from wearing them .
The price of a new pair of "draggins " is around $275 , not far off a leather pair which will last 6 years + and way more comfortable .
Trouble is in QLD its just too hot for leather (though i try ) all the time .
I ended up with a pair of r-jays kevlar jeans .Black is defeating the purpose so i chose faded blue .At $145. if i get a season i'll be happy .
There is no way i'm paying $275 a season ,i know the quality is probably better but my leathers are better again .
Any one given the r-jays a try ?

Re: Kevlar Jeans ,the big question .
I've got Kevlar Camo's from Shark Leathers, so has my daughter, so far so good (had them nearly a year), a bloke I work with has worn his daily for over 2 years, a bit faded but still going strong.
Prices are very reasonable, check their ebay store as well, mine were cheaper from their web site, the daughters from ebay

Re: Kevlar Jeans ,the big question .
Now you tell me .
Ive all way had the grey and white camo's so they dont attract heat like black does .Trouble is the blue ,red ,orange camo's with matching bike make me feel a little dizzy .(ill) .Do find the draggins rough on the butt after 1 hour .(like 80 grit ) They do work though ,Carol wrote off an sv 650 by
allowing a horse truck to run over it while she was on it . They wore through the denim but NOT the kevlar .Bruised knees and broken c\bone .
Bike terminal ,alarmed horse's ,yes it was loaded.

Re: Kevlar Jeans ,the big question .
Ouch, not good about Carol, hope she's fairing well under the circumstances.
As for the Draggins, yep like wearing sandpaper, I now wear lycra bike shorts under them to stop that happening, but only use them for commuting duties so 45 minutes max wearing. I've got a pair of RedMax Kevlar jeans and they are awesome. Heavy denim, full length Kevlar front and back and then another cotton layer for comfort. They're my long cruisy ride pants. Now have leathers for longer "fun" rides and have to say I'll put up with the discomfort for the hopefully never to come time when they save me.

Ned's have brought out a new pair that have the Kevlar woven into the denim. Same protection only much cooler for summer

Hey Gus, do you wear a cordura jacket? You may be able to get some cordura pants to suit the jacket, & just wear shorts under the cordura pants

Re: Kevlar Jeans ,the big question .
Recently got a pair of 2nd hand Hornee's from a guy at work, so much better than the Draggin's. The kevlar is much finer so you don't get the sandpapering, plus the coverage is better and the overall quality seems much better. But I take your point they are only marginally cheaper than leathers, and perforated leather works pretty well up to the high twenties (at least in a pretty dry climate like Canberra).

Re: Kevlar Jeans ,the big question .
I looked at textile pants but they only came in black which is not great in the QLD sun .
I went for a ride today with the r-jays on .Thoughts were nice and cool, comfortable for about 200 kls, but dont crash in them .Feel a bit thin but
ive been wearing leather and will still try too unless it gets over 25deg .
Then again shorts on a bike seem like the in-thing up here .Bloody yuppies .

My experience has been quite the opposite Gus - I've had my draggins for four years now and even wear them at times even when not riding. They have worn well and I haven't experienced any problems with arse scratch. I wonder if there are manufacturing variatons - let's hope not another Aussie product outsourced to China because we can't afford to manufacture here? But yes, they are not cheap.

I'm with Ewok on this. My Draggin's are 5 years old. I may not ride in them as much as some here, but they have worn great. Even wear them out occasionally. Also have a Draggin Lite Jacket the same age as jeans which i like as well. Would have no probs buying again when needed.

I have a pair of Hornee Jeans and not a single problem with them after two years and they still look like new and only cost $180

Re: Kevlar Jeans ,the big question .
I've got a pair of Draggin Jeans that are close to 8 years old. I only have 2 issues with them. The first is that they appear to have shrunk a bit and the kevlar is now itchy.

Not sure what you are doing to your jeans, but I wear my hornee kevlar jeans every day for 23,000kms and after 18mths they are like new. Mind you, I have only washed them about 5 times come to think of it... gross. I'm off to wash them...

You could be right, i had the white and green camos (cow pants:P ) i may have over-washed them due to the white attracting dirt .

It must be a global warming thing or something. Nothing shrank for me till I was 40, then everything seemed to shrink...
