Do you now if the RF900 shared an engine with bandit/GSXR/GSX or any others for that matter? The small piece of cover I can see looks similar to the oil-cooled Suzuki motors. Good value bikes, wonder what 1 would look like as a streetfighter

RF900
Mate I ride with has an RF900, They seem to have better suspension (more adjustable) than the early Bandits, lots of parts in common though.

Water cooled GSX based engine.
Jetted and piped made 140hp (crank) and very rideable. They flogged the equivalent CBR of the time in a lot more comfort.
They were up against more sports orientated bikes in the Aussie market so didn’t last long here but I guarantee anyone who had one will still sing their praises. 600's maybe not so much as they were a bit porky for the 600 engine.
They have a lot of plumbing and electricals between the frame and fairing that needs to be placed somewhere else for a street fighter but I agree a semi naked one now would be a hoot.
I'll see if I have a pic with the fairings off.

Very nice Bandit mate, I have one almost exactly the same
I will be keen to get up over Hotham one day myself also, would be a great ride!

Not sure where you're from mate but from here its 200km and a fuel/pie stop in Omeo then another 200 to Wangaratta (my folks).
I gat about 5.6L/100km on these trips carrying a weeks worth of luggage in a MotoDri seat bag.
I prefer the ride south to north but thats just me.
Let me know when you're planning the ride you may just have some company
