Bloody Hammy
Its not really Hammy’s fault but he hasn’t helped
For a while I have been thinking about adding a V Twin to the shed and I must admit I have always liked the Beull XB12SS
Lately I have drifted towards the SV1000S and would consider a Firestorm if they went around the block without running out of fuel but I think the SV looks better anyway
The update wont be until mid next year but has anyone got an opinion of the 3 above.
I know they’re more “sports” than the Bandit/FZ1 but what about general living with one of them? I’ll never fit on a Duc let alone afford one

Re: Bloody Hammy
You may remember that I came from an SV650s to the Bandit. While I was looking around I went for a squirt on a naked SV 1000. The reason I didn't go for that was that they wanted too much for it, & it was too old, I wanted something a little later. I wouldn't get back on the "s" version of one again tho, it was getting too hard on my wrists.
Hope this helps 2wa

Before I would the Bandit, I test rode a FuelStorm; was incredibly under-whelmed.

The Firestorm is really getting on a bit now - it had a long model run.
I really like the SV1000, would swap the Bandit for on, although the bars are kinda low on the S. Kinda biased though with a few SV650's hanging around our place
But the Tuono is the go if you can find a good one for the right price. The second generation looks especially good and people will definitely hear you coming.

Mines done 70,ooo runs like new ,never needed a shim removed .Market value with that mileage$3- $4000 if i'm lucky .
20,000 kl ones $6-7000 .People have no faith in them .Dont know why ,motor by Rotax same as put in Cam Am Spider and airoplanes .In Rotax we trust .
A mungrel around town but the alpine way ,yes please .And that sound ,slipper clutch ,brembos ,178kg and a seating position like a bandit .
I sold mine then brought it back 3 weeks later .
You dont see many of them ,kind of gives you that special thing .They tour as well .
Oh yeah ,Gen 1 (before 2006) is the one to get .Gen 2 good but its just not gen 1.
Although i do Know a Gen 2 for sale (black and grey )and its showroom cond with twin Akra pipes .Owner wants a Aprilia V4

I dunno Chris - but you'd look pretty flash down south on this Hayabusa :P They are reportedly reasonably comfortable to tour on.

Re: Bloody Hammy
HAMMY, If your looking for a V2 to add to your collection, I rode a TL1000S for years before I bought the Bandit. I had a slight mishap when I flicked up a piece of steel off the road, pierced my oil filter without Knowing & proceeded through a roundabout on my side, as it was squirting oil onto my front tyre like a water pistol. Anyway, I got spooked after that and sold it, but to this day I wished I hadn't. They are an awesome bike!!! I will buy another when I have the cash. Don't listen to all that rubbish about a Queer rear suspension set up, its all crap. It would probably come in to play if you ride like Mick Doohan & were trying to take 10ths off your lap times. Other than that there is no issue at all. It is a massively strong motor & really comfortable riding/touring position & all round great bike. You can not get the smile off your face whilst riding a TL. Thing is you can pick up a low KMs one for $3_4K now nowadays, BARGIN!! My mate had the Firestorm at the same time & we swapped bikes for a day & he didn't want to give the TL back, & he loved the Firestorm until then. So summing up, the SV1000s is just a TL1000s after the fun police got involed a tuned it all down, & thats why I didn't buy one. Would be interested to hear other peoples comments, Cheers JTB.

It was a case of only dreaming until you talked about pulling the trigger on another bike mate.
And now the Bandit has gone and got all sulky thinking she might be sacraficed

I figured that mate. For what its worth I have always kept an eye out for a TLR but finding an original is difficult.

I too get the desire from time to time for another Ducati, then I wake up one morning with a back ache and wistfully remember my 1976 900SS and the desire just adds 2 more cylinders in line.

Re: Bloody Hammy
2WA, if you won't fit on a Duc you might have problems on an sv1000.
I checked em out before buying the Bandit and at 6'2" I felt very cramped in the legs. I think they use the same frame as the sv650. I only sat on one sv1000 (naked, of course) and decided it wasn't the allrounder I was after. short distances would be ok, but not touring or even a long day's ride.
Best of luck.
