Post  Kaupy1962 on Sat 25 Aug 2012, 6:21 pm

I recently put an adblocker on this laptop to piss the ads off and it worked. Now i see highlighted words in the text on this forum and when the mouse pointer sweeps over them Ads jump onto the screen. W. T. F. ?

Right click the ad and you should have an option to block it if it has slipped through.

Looks like you have a "extension" on Chrome that is doing it, a quick search reveals that the same thing can happen on Firefox and it goes by various names. You may need to click on the replies to expand them out, there is an "expand all" button in the upper right. I needed to scroll back to the top of the page to see the original post.

See this thread http://productforums.google.com/d/topic/chrome/wBCbBP4N_u4 the answer to your profile question might be on that forum too.

This might help if you are unsure of where to disable extensions

If you can't see it straight off, disable them all and re-add them one at a time until you find the culprit.

For your other problem try putting the exact wording of the error in double quotes "for example" in a Google search.

Cheers and good luck.

Dumped google chrome and loaded firefox. The problem has gone, but before I loaded firefox my antivirus detected files corrupted by adware.
