Gold and Black Bandit
First topic message reminder :
I was thinking about the chain and sprocket replacement that is coming up some time in the near future. I quite like the gold look against the black of the 2010+ Bandit and naturally though black bandit with gold chain and rear sprocket. So then i started thinking of adding gold bar end weights, being cheap to buy. But then I recalled those ZX12's and VFR800's with their gold rims - hmm might they look good on the Bandit with the aforementioned bling if I removed the tyres, brake rotors and had them painted? Anyone good with photoshop to do a mockup?

Well, it's not much of a start but .....
Got the vinyl stickers from Destination Vinyl for about $6 the pair. New bar end weights and levers are on their way.

Re: Gold and Black Bandit
Just .
Why not paint the wheels with Gold water paint with a 25mm brush .You know the easy wash off stuff in a tube from newsagents .Rough as guts will do
take a pic then wash it off with a hose .Should be enough for you to drop the idea or say "thats HOT "
Gold, ive found its not a colour there is lots of shades in rattle cans for some reason .

It's agood point Gus - I'm going to do a test spray on some metal next week when the new bar ends and levers arrive to test the match, and before I respray the rims.

The ZX12R came out with gold rims and highlights. I like it, but keeping the rims clean would annoy me after a short while.

Got the new bar end weights (MCmotoparts) and levers (Factorykiss). I don't reckon there is as much weight in the bar ends so it will be interesting to see if the bars vibrate more. The levers look to be a quality product.
Must get on with those wheel rims.....

I dont find silver and chrome wheels hard to keep clean at all .Just use a chain wax not oil .

What's a good wax? I only tried one once (in a spray can) and it went on crap and came off as easy as oil.

A little progress - it looks better in the flesh than in the picture.

Ok someone likes carbon fibre bling , other than me! Now tell me how to get my Warning stickers off Suzy, cause they do look like crap. What brand are your levers?Ewok1958 wrote:A little progress - it looks better in the flesh than in the picture.

Re: Gold and Black Bandit
SS, the levers are from Factorykiss - there's a link back up this thread on this page. I'm really impressed with them (they come in both long, ie standard length, and short) and are considerably cheaper than some other highly advertised after-market levers. I'd endorse them for their fit, function and quality.
As for the warning sticker on the tank, there is a thread about that here. I used the heat gun and metho but very nervously - but I figured if others could do it, so could I. And then it was gone!

You only need a hair dryer, a heat gun could, if your not careful burn the paint. Finish off with eucalyptus oil.

Re: Gold and Black Bandit
Those levers look identicle to the ones I bought for Rosie,, Cheap and pretty well made. The only thing I found was that I had to tighten up the small bolts to take the slop out of them. Gold goes well with the black. Look forward to seeing the gold wheels. How about anodising your wheels. Check this out : http://www.agradeanodising.com.au/Services.html And only $50 a wheel.

Thanks Hammy - that might end up being the way I go on the wheels.

No worries. The hardest prep part will be polishing them up after stripping off the thin paint.

Re: Gold and Black Bandit
When I picked my bike, I stopped in at the local decal shop and had them fuss with removing the warning, abs, and suzuki decals. The one on the tank was the hardest.
