How's your place Chris?

Thanks for asking mate.
I’m in Sale (former name Flooding Creek is appropriate) and we have streets with water up to front doors. Lake Guthridge the lake in town that collects and filters all the storm water is flooding. Our house roof sprung a leak but nothing damaged so far. Many outlaying properties are inundated and some towns are under. The operators of Lake Glenmaggie are releasing water and helping to flood the towns of Tinamba and Newry but I guess they have to let the water go. We had good rain a week ago and all this event is just running off. My partner has 3 different vets stuck on properties that can’t get back to the Maffra clinic. The Princes Hwy is cut at Rosedale and Stratford and The South Gippsland Hwy is about to be closed at Sale so anyone living to the west of Sale will be stuck here as the only two access are or will be closed. There are probably some 300 – 500 cow dairy herds that won’t have milk collected. Imagine tipping that all down the drain……..

As a public land manager we will be assessing tracks and park areas in the next few days to see what the losses are. We already know we have lost a significant portion of sand dunes along our section of the 90 Mile beach. I guess we’ve lost some built assets along there as well. Anyway we’ll rebuild and repair when funds are made available.

Yes it’s been a wild couple of days and thankfully this time there hasn’t been any loss of life.

ABC Gippsland has plenty of photos on their website and FB.

Cheers

Thanks for the thoughts SB1250. My mum lives pretty close to the Traralgon Creek but elevated enough not to have problems usually. This footbridge is only about 250m from her house but I rang her at 2.30pm today and she was OK with the water levels. Hoping things stay that way.

Good to hear everyones ok. Whenever a decent drop is forecast, I start getting nervous pale . Re-runs of the flooding on xmas day plays back thru my mind. I dont wish that on anyone.
