Central Coast Motorcycle Touring Club "Red Shirts" are having their annual Cairns run on June long weekend.

I'm pretty keen to go, anyone else?


Here are the details:

Hi All,

I have been asked by the committee to organise this year’s Cairns Run. Queen’s Birthday weekend Sat 9th June to Mon (public holiday) 11th June.
Last year we stayed in Ravenshoe at a great pub and great bar staff who put on a bit of a show which was far more entertaining than the muso.
Gordonvale was memorable at Kev’s garage navigating our way around his impressive Guzzi collection.
After chatting with the below pubs, the accommodation situation is

Mena Creek Hotel 4 x double 1x family triple and 1 x twin rooms
Ye Olde Gordonvale Hotel 3 x double and 2 x singles
Hotel Tully Falls – Ravenshoe lots of accommodation
Ye olde Gordonvale has several long term guests staying which stuffs it up a bit for accommodation.

As a suggestion, Ravenshoe on Fri night and then how about we stay at a pub on Sat night in Malanda or Atherton area. I am sure it will be a lovely cool night with an open fire. If I get positive feedback I will find one to suit us.
I’d like some feedback on numbers and suggestions before we finalise a run which is expected to take the same format (irrespective of overnight stays) which is broadly - meet at Rollingstone late Fri morning (8th June), go to pub the first night, do what you want on Sat, meet at another pub Sat night and then do what you want Sun & Mon.

If there is little interest and only 1/2 dozen of us, we can meet at Rollingstone and play it by ear.

I will advise the meet times at various points e.g. Mobil Millview/Conningsby Fri am and Bowen a couple of hours later, for those leaving there once your intentions are declared.

I will be leaving on Thurs morning to enjoy the Strand at Townsville on Thurs night and put the bike in for a service at the bmw shop, meeting the rest of you (unless there is anyone who wants to join me Thurs) at Rollingstone.

Remember next year’s Queens B/day is Oct.
