Easy Riders Club

Post  2wheelsagain on Mon 23 Jan 2012, 9:20 pm

Anyone here involved in the Easy Riders Club (ERA)?
I have just received an invitation to join and am wondering if I should bother.
I think my bikes have twice the cylinders of most members from what I can see.
The invitation is for a local chapter.
Thoughts.

sometimes these types of clubs can be a lot of fun for like minded people . Sometimes these types of clubs have "wannabees " in them which give it a crappy image .If your interested in joining a club look into it first you may prefer a 1%er club than a 10%er one . ( surprised they can wear " rockers " as a social club )

Most of those clubs just make me think of "Wild Hogs" the movie haha

The other day I saw two Harleys riding side by side on my way to Bunbury... I pissed myself laughing, what a bunch of knobs. What makes me laugh is they all want to be different, but they all look the same on there Harley or Yamaharley even down pat to wearing a patch denoting their dodgy weekend warrior club.

If we wanted to cruise we would have brought a cruiser or a Ducati

S.e Qld Has a climate you can ride all year with out to much hardship .Sure it gets cold but nothing a good jacket Carnot fix .Now in Vico and
the ACT you have to be a true enthusiast to ride all year .
We seem to be getting a breed of Queenslanders that think they are tough bikers because they have bought a Harley .(or clone)
They only ride on Sundays less than 100 kls as long as the temp is 20-25 deg .None of them know what a spanners is and think white t-shirts
look cool .It it breaks down they simply use there gold card to get the RACQ to pick them up and deliver bike to Harley shop . Most refuse to ride
alone because they might get lost and lonely .There is big money to be earnt in the mines up here ,guess what the first thing they buy is .
One big noted Harley rider asked me what i ride in when its wet .I answered Textiles ,i got a blank expression .Dririder type stuff i tried , still no
good ,never heard of it .Told me his Dry-as-a- bone was good on the bike .
And why do they dress like a gay pirate .And if you wear a skull mask YOU ARE NOT A VIKING .Shit me . Laughing

-- All riders must complete a Ride Waiver and turn it in to our Sergeant at Arms before you are permitted on a chapter ride.

-- No drinking or drugs while riding is allowed.

-- All traffic laws will be strictly obeyed.

-- When riding in a group, motorcycles will be ridden in a staggered formation except for when coming to a stop, when riders will stop side by side in order to save space.

-- One or more riders will be designated as the Road Captain. Shall ride in the front left position in the group and lead each group point out road hazards as they are found by hand signal to be passed back through the group.

-- One to two riders will be designated as Tail Gunners. The Tail Gunner is responsible for keeping all riders in formation. Should a rider need to leave the formation, only the Tail Gunner will stop to assist them. A Chapter Officer may designate him.

-- Riders who elect to drop out of a ride (i.e. they do not desire to continue) will notify the Tail Gunner prior to doing so.

-- One rider will be designated as Sergeant at Arms. The Sergeant at Arms is responsible for keeping the peace, enforcing chapter and charter rules, and collection of monies for tolls, etc.

Do they have these rules????

Yeah didn't see many sleeved jackets or any bikes hat had more had more than 2 cylinders. But to be fair a HD is just another bike to them and not a status symbol.
The website has the same layout which is a worry already.

A guy at my work has a Harley 883 roadster, i invited him on a ride on the week end but he had to make sure that there was fuel on the way. I asked how big his tank was. 9 litres was the answer. Geezus 9 litres crikey that aint going to get you far. i just shook my head in dismay and walked off wondering why people spent big bucks on a bike with no range that doesn't handle or stop, has reliability issues defies logic

A country "tour" is outside the sporties design brief though.

you can buy honda cruisers etc with that or less fuel capacity

My biggest gripe is still the 20L tank on the bandit. Why can't it be 25 or 30......
