Pick me! Pick me! Why do we do it?
Notice billboards saying Vote 1 (insert name field) for Member for (insert name field) / Lord Mayor lately?
How to vote cards etc etc saying same thing? It's a job with countless perks and pension conditions we all envy. Why then do these people think just because they put a pic of their melons on a billboard with a well practiced sh!t eating grin and some slogan we should vote this or that peron into office? Like any job don't you have to prepare a CV with contactable references? I often think why are these people smiling so hard. Next time you see a poster like this, just think, this person is smiling because they are thinking of the serious cash they will be rolling in if they're elected.
Look into their previous work history - bet there's a few skeletons lurking in their closets. I have to work hard and be scrutenised to get a job these days - why shouldn't these "other" people? Rant over.

I like Billy Connelly's take on politicians.
"Don't vote, it only encourages them"
"The fact someone wants to become a politician should automatically bar them from every being one"

the pollies keep telling us if you don`t want monkeys don`t pay peanuts , but unfortunately I think they`re dyslexic & got it back to front so we don`t pay peanuts & still ended up with monkeys In all fairness to them though it must be hard trying to figure out how to spend all that retirement fund

Full Throttle, the reason they do it is simple - it works.
Some people vote in elections according to party oplitics, others examine policies and vote according to those. There is a significant percentage who simply vote on name recognition alone. The posters are designed for them.
Its a bit like those really fkn annoying tv adverts - we don't like the ads, but we remember the name of the product when we are in the shops and buy it.
I have worked running political campaigns and in the marketing sector. Politicians and companies won't spend good money on advertising that doesn't work.
