Getting Old...er

Post  Hammy on Fri 11 Nov 2011, 1:45 pm

Yesterday I went and had my eyes checked. Had been having a little irritation in the right one for some time. After a thorough examination the optometrist declared, " You have a lovely set of...... cataracts". Hmmm. Ok. Dont panic yet he said. My eye sight is still good with the same perscription glasses that I have had for over six years. Only need them for driving ( to be legal ), can see ok and read without them. Have to go back next week to have a pupil dillation examination. Optometrist recons I should be good for a few more years unless there is significant deterriation. Yearly check ups, thats all. Anyone here had there cats done ?

3 yrs ago i got my first set of glasses, I examine welds so need them in tight spaces to do my job. Eyesight is perfect for long distance but blurry up close. My Dad recently had cateracts removed for the first time and was day surgery, home in the afternoon. He is 82 though.

I was told to stop it or I might go go blind when I was young but nobody ever said anything about all the other bits that have packed up as well ! I remember my dad having cataracts done & the end result was marvelous / I wear tri focal glasses & once I got used to them they`re great ( maybe I should have stopped sooner like I was told ? )
