1250 side stand
Does any one know of a modification or is there an aftermarket fix for the 'infamous' 1250 Bandit side stand, I know my bike has roller off its side stand and I know of others that have had the same problem. The standard side stand appears to go straight down instead of going further foward. Help please

Re: 1250 side stand
Compared to my Aprilia Side stand the bandit one is BRILLIANT .Ive always thought it was fine
Or a fix could be dont park it pointing down hill .Easy and cheap mod .

$0.00 option . put your bike in gear before putting the bike on the stand

Re: 1250 side stand
Mine has rolled off the stand but the slope it was on was my bloody fault.
In my opinion the stand is spot on for access and function.

Re: 1250 side stand
No problem with the side stand here either, I know on the Hayabusa it's a problem, with the fix being to cut a notch out of the stand. She's one heavy mofo if it starts falling, so I am extra vigilant that the bike is off, in gear and the stand is down all the way before attempting dismount.
I do this even if I am going to put it up on the centre stand just so I consciously keep doing it.

I am with you there. What I have got in the habit of doing is putting the side stand down with the bike running in gear (clutch in, of course). Kills the engine (good to see if everything is working OK interlock-wise) and I know it won't go anywhere

1250 side stand
I also always put the side stand down before I get off the bike / even if I`m going to put it on the center stand ( must admit I only put it in gear if I`m on a slope though ) Interesting this should come up now as I was talking to a mate Sunday & he had just come back from a ride to one of the local haunts for a coffee & said he was amazed at how many riders he saw while he was sat there get off their bike first & then put the side stand down ( sometimes with difficulty ) & it occurred to us this may be part of the reason so many bikes seem to be going over at standstill .

thanks
goes to show u can teach an old dog new tricks, I realise that old habits have caused my problems, like the idea of putting side stand down while in first gear. again thanks

Re: 1250 side stand
I have a concern that the bike leans over too far on the side stand. (Sometimes hard to right with my crook left leg). & if I put the stand in a ditch, (dopey at the end of a long ride) the bike might go over.
Tks for heads up re parking in gear. Have always sort an uphill park.
Found these on Ebay...

Even though I have no need for a side stand I might get one of these just for the bragging rights

Re: 1250 side stand
Yeah. I've had mine roll off the stand. I was lucky enough to be walking back to the bike just in time to grab it. after paying for the fuel. I was 350k's from home .
The ground looked to be up hill, But was really down hill
Harley side stands get me every time. They kick down to a point, then the bike go's on to it and then the bike will move again as the stand will slide out 2 or 3 inch's in to the locking slot. When to see $30,000 bike moving with out a rider on it .

Take it off and file an angle on the front edge of the slot to allow it to go further forward. Or always make sure it's pointing uphill.
