Does anyone have an air box snorkle they want to off load?
I have a minor mod planned but need a spare just in case!
Happy to pay postage. PM if you can help please.

I was going thru my shed a while back (B4 eye operation) and found a whole bunch of small crap for the bandit (2x snorks, 2x pair tubes, full pair system, vib dampers from under seat etc etc) can't remember if I thru them all out or not but suspect I did. I'll check if I kept them and if I have the snork I'll let you know.

Leave the snork out and glue a bit of flyscreen mech over the hole.
Duno what kind of difference it will make to performance or economy but it's an option.

All I did was to take the air filter out once a month and give it a light clean/tap to remove the bigger stuff

I don’t think that’s going to make any difference without forced induction.
The Bandit engine speed isn’t high enough to get anything out of it.
Are we talking a HD type Hyper Charger? Could look ok if hidden somewhat but I don’t think it will make any difference.

And mine being naked I'll be blown off the back before it gets to "RAM" stage . I do like the idea of cooler air though.
The bendy hose of the vacuum looks about right .All i have to do is feed it to a mesh grill .
Triangle mesh grill would hide vacuum hose nicely .ZRX style

Just take the snorkel out and throw it as far as you can. While you have the air box lid out drill a few holes in it and if the filter is 10k old then put a new one in. K&N don't filter micro particles as well as a standard filter, but they let a lot more air in.

At lunch at Bombala I was supprised to hear noone had bothered to remove the snorkel. It is the easiest and cheapest effective mod you can do, even before a new muffler is put on.

The motor needs air. The airbox is extremely restrictive. Fix the airbox. Fix the airbox. Fix the airbox. Fix the airbox. Fix the airbox. Fix the airbox. Fix the airbox. Fix the airbox. If I'm honest, I took the snorkle out when I was tinkering with the bike early on in the piece because it made it easier to remove the air box cover.
Performance mod wasn't even considered at the time but a bonus nun the less.

If you do the math on the airbox itself, it's not that restrictive and actually does a pretty good job of what it does. The hole it breaths thru (where the snorkle is) is one problem, the other is the diameter (or lack of) of the TB's
Thing is, if you start opening it up to make mega snot, you loose a lot of what you got the bandit for

Rolls I had the snorkel out at Bombala Razz
My seat of the pants dyno. Dialled in over many bikes and yeas suggests there is no performance gain under normal (legal) use. It does swing from 6,000 to 7,500rpm a fraction quicker but I reckon I'd like to see dyno proof of anything more than half a HP under 6k. With secondaries out there could be more to gain but that mod isn't for me.
On a side note the extra induction noise the removal produces isn't pleasing to my ears.
Add no economy gain and SFA performance gain and I'm wondering what the fuss is about?

I'm happy for others to get a boner over this mod but it doesn't do anything for me.
For me I'll settle for braking later and gassing earlier to keep the smile going Very Happy

I'm with you on this one 2WA I haven't touched my airbox at all, my mechanic and also the guy I dyno'd my bike at suggested to leave the airbox and the secondries as is, I have added a PC5, a Yoshi R77 exhaust and a K&N air filter he's only other performance suggestion aftermarket headers, unfortunately that would make the bike unregisterable in NSW if found out by the authorities.
I took it to the drags at Eastern Creek for the first time a week ago and managed a 11.09 1/4 mile it's fast enough for me as it is now only imrovements for me is a quicker reaction time and suspension work.

At least you can screw your lid on. I'd have to use sticky tape to keep mine on.
