Footpeg and shifter mods
For those more mature among us who may be seeking a bit of relief for the knees that aren't as supple as they once were a couple of pics of the flipped footpegs and shortened gear shift lever - I hasten to add neither are my own original idea - I think MM first flipped the pegs and the shortened shifter I'm not sure.
I started off just wanting to shorten the shifter because my boots were such a tight fit and upshifts were awkward and adjusting the shift lever up higher to get extra clearance that way put the shifter too high to use comfortably. Then I thought I'd lower the pegs to ease the bend on my knees which start to ache after a couple of hours.

Remove the main footpeg holder / heelguard bracket and rotate the little footpeg brackets 180 deg then flip the footpegs back so they face up. This lowers the pegs about 40mm I think and moves them forward about 20 mm.

I cut about 22 and a bit mm off the length of the shift lever which allows comfortable clearance for my boot - if you didn't have any boot fit issues with the stock lever and pegs position you might not need to cut as much, or even any, off.
Because I welded the new pin on it stuffed up the chrome but I really like the lever in black anyway.
Downside to this is less cornering clearance obviously so if you like to use all the tyre you probably wouldn't be interested in lowering the pegs - I'm not dragging the pegs and I like the extra comfort though.
Logically the shorter shift lever equates to more effort required at the lever and a slightly quicker change but in reality it feels just like it did before I shortened it - I was mainly concerned by the prospect of the shift lever being noticably harder to shift with but it's a non issue.
Anyway definately not a mod for everyone but it has increased my comfort and enjoyment of the Bandit enormously - just thought I'd share.

Well done Fossil ,changing the bike to suit YOU is a must do . Like the angle of hand to lever . The guy who put it together ot the dealer couldnt care less IMHo .
Those small adjustments can turn a "i'm stuffed day ' into a " that was fun ,bring on tomorrow "
Black gear change lever ,ooooooooh i like the look of that .I think the pivot bolt feels left out though .
See 2wa ,i have let it go ,not one comment .Dam, is that one .
Have they changed the shape of the sprocket cover .I think mine covers that worm drive clamp ?

Gus I thought about doing the pivot bolt black as well but in the end I kinda like it left au naturel.

You've got way too much time on your hands Gus.
If you were over my way I'd get you to respray parts of my bike, but I'd have to be careful I didn't come back and it was all flat blat

All Gus needs is a sheep dip trough, full of black paint, and run the bike through.

Re: Footpeg and shifter mods
I tried this mod with turning the footpegs around 180° to move them down and forward. The problem is that my legs are long enough that it didn't really change the angle of my knee thanks to the pegs being further forward. Furthermore, it put some strain on my lower back by now allowing my hips to be rotated forwards as far as the normal position.
The point of the story, however, is that you should really try this mod for yourself if you're curious. It's free and it might help, and it's quicker to undo than to do in the first place because you've already got the knack of it
