Hi folks I am Chris from Melbourne Victoria. I am on bikes 64 and 65 (I think) 2003 FZ1 Yamaha Bee and 2008 1250 Bandit.

I bought the Bandit to tour with my wife as the FZ1 is set up for me and no one sits on the back seat except Saint Christopher.

I had no intention of riding the Bandit except with the wife on the back but I have learned to love the black beast and now ride it 4 days a week and the FZ1 3 days "I don't drive owing to an accident" (FZ has over 150,000 Klicks on her and has just finished a almost $5000 Refurb and is better than new now.

Look forward to participation in this board which was recommended to me by reddog from ASB, thanks reddog

Welcome.... If I see someone has a Bandit on another forum I always recommend them to come over here for Bandit related banter. They are not a bad crew on here but there's some shit stirrers. steer clear of that dodgy Reardo Smile

Lliquidlen, was the Hash House Harrier name of my great friend Len Small who traveled New Guinea, NT and Far North Queensland with me in the early seventies and had adventures like you would not believe.

Len vanished in 1975 when we were exploring Bougainville and we never found him or any reason for him to go missing. He lives with me in that name on many bike and adventuring sites.

Yes my 2003 FZ1 is a Yellow and Black Bee which was only released in 2003 and which I purchased new on my birthday to prove my surgeon wrong (he said I would never ride again after a young driver nearly killed me in 2001) 3 1/2 years of rehab and I had to use a walking stick to get on and off the bike for a further two years (I still carry it for bad days)

Hi Chris, great to catch up with you again mate.

I am recovering from the worst three months for some time, thanks to the weather and my need to ride I ended up with Pneumonia and it was touch and go for a while, I want my drought back.

From what I have heard you must have been busier than a one armed bricklayer in Baghdad, I hope the weather gives you a break.

Still room in the garage for your bike and two spare bedrooms in Maison La Cookie, no need to book just turn up.

Seems like a great forum, glad they accepted my application to join without asking for references.

Sue quit her job, the state hospital system is buggered so she may go back and do some teaching, I reckon I am retired as no one wants an old bugger with two bum legs but at least I can ride and for that I am grateful.

Feel like joining us on the Barry Sheen ride on the 11th of October?

Take care mae and catch you soon.

Glad you're on the mend. Sue should have contacted me and I would have popped down and kept the batteries charged for you Smile
There are a few from Melb on here now so there should be options to get together.

@Grumpy60

Looks like we are the same age.

Yes I have a neat 3 piece hiking stick that I attach to my frame, more for balance now than support but with limited feeling in my left foot, I can fall over from time to time, sometimes even when I have not been drinking.

The cause of the problem

Before

After, you can see how my Surgeon stuffed up the screws in the Ankle.

Yes Gs a good lesson for those who skimp on bike boots, without my Alpinestars I would have lost the leg and quite possibly bled to death on the road.

I fall over often Chris....in fact the last 3 times I dropped the bike I was stationary !! .....only park on level firm ground...if it's outside my comfort zone I park some where else.......always turn motor off with bike in gear and grab a big handfull of front brake when I get off................Grumpy clown

Seems we have much in common Grumpy, I have the same collection of problems as you.

Look on the bright side mate, we made it to this august age when many of our peers did not, we still ride (I can't drive so I ride almost every day) most of my aches and pains recede into the darkest recesses of my brain the moment we start moving, when the pain keeps me awake at night I watch re runs of the Isle of Mann TT and talk to Joey Dunlop, Mike the bike and my old mate Bazza Sheene and nothing feels better than the freedom of riding through our beautiful country.

Despite the bad things mate, we are truly blessed. Very Happy Very Happy
