Hi all, Hows it going
Hi all, my name is Ben, i have decided to join the site as i have a great interest in bandits. I have an 06 gsxr 1000, yeah i know dont hold it against me! But i have ridden a 2006 bandit a couple of times and am looking at turning one into a track bike. If anyone has an older bandit and or parts that they want to sell, let me know the details.
Thanks, hope to catch up on a ride one day, Ben.

Welcome Ben.
Mmmmm a Bandit as a track bike if choice! As capable as they are I don't reckon they would be my first choice.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I've taken mine to the track and I wouldn't bother. I've seen a Triumph Sprint ST 1050 at the track and it got belted. If you are just doing track days it's probably okay, but I'll be looking for a 600 if the budget allows at some stage.

Dont listern to them Ben!
A mate of mine has a 1200 trackie. and he keeps very good pace in green group around eastern creek. And i must admit it looks bloody awsome. Id have one.
the best thing is that youd be the only one out there with one.
I have an SV650 track bike...havnt seen another one out there yet. Thats the best part. everybody has a gsxr, cbr or similar...boring
Anyway...welcome mate...cya out on the track soon

Re: Hi all, Hows it going
I hate to differ with you Cam, but what is more logical? To take a perfectly good road bike and try to make a track bike out of it, or take what is basically a road legal track bike and make a track bike out of it? While the former can certainly be done, you will always be constrained by your starting point, (weight, wheelbase, steering geometry, low spec suspension, brakes, lack of ground clearance, ergonomics…etc.).
Now, I don’t know what Ben has; maybe it’s a stat write-off that can’t be returned to the road that he got cheap and from that starting point it may make perfect sense. But, from all your track experience with the B1250 you will know that it can get untidy and once it does, with all that weight, it’s not easy to convince it to get back into shape. Still, not saying this is not fun; just that it can change from being fun to being nasty without a lot of prior warning…I’m sure that this point has been driven home by the liberties you can take with a light bike (say the SV650) as opposed to a heavy one like the B1200.
Anyway, welcome Ben, and sorry if I am going on about this. You didn’t say where you are?
BTW. Ben, you will need a fully modified front-end, please feel free to PM me for a deal of a pair of B1250 forks (compatible with the K6) with springs, gold valve compression damping, modified rebound damping, and Holeshot fork brace.
Cheers Peter

Re: Hi all, Hows it going
Hi, and thanks for all your replys.
I know the bandit isnt the best for track work but a mate of mine is running around lakeside QLD doing 1:08s with holeshot cams, jetted carbs, can, k8 gsxr rear shock, k6 1000 front masted, stiffer front springs and slicks. Its good to see it amongst all the sports bikes. The bandit would be sort of a project as well, something to play around will and better over time.
The k6 ive had from new and would rather (if all turns to shit) bin a cheaper bandit than me gsxr all though its worth sweet f&*k all these days. Im keeping an eye out for anything coming through the auctions so it could take sometime!! and i live in the morayfield area thanks again Ben.
