Re: Battery Tender.
Do what I have done. Get one battery tender-type trickle charger unit and make your own connector units and add direct to the battery of each bike in your shed (with appropriate shielding to avoid under-seat shorting and subsequent cooked rumps).
Then every day or two switch it from one barely-ridden bike to another.
Seems to work for me.
The Bandit gets ridden most days so no need as there is barely any load on starting compared to big-block Guzzis and Laverda Jota it shares the shed with, which require a lot more cranking power to turn over. The Jota, for example, will not start on anything less than a battery in tip-top condition. And the Guzzi Le Mans currently won't get to 14V charging until about 3000 rpm so any city running sees it discharge pretty quickly. The Guzzi 1100 Sport has 2 x 12V batteries in the tailpiece and I just gave the batteries their charge on the weekend, as it sits expectantly waiting for a few remaining gearbox and clutch bits.
The Laverda RGS 1000 departs Qld next Monday on its way to Adelaide. If you see a red RGS heading south from Brisbane to Pt MacQuarie way, and then west towards SA on 18-21 April, give it a wave, it will be my brother Marty.

Not a farking chance, bruiser
Had it for 3 weeks now and my initial impressions are that it is far and away the best value for money bike I have ever owned.
Sure it has a few suspension shortcomings, but the engine is strong, and it steers surprisingly well despite some front-end harshness.
Gonna head out and meet Marty on his way back from Qld next week so should be able to provide some highway economy figures, and some opinion on how it stands up as an open road tourer.
Got a GPS coming. Will wire up for that this week, so hopefully I can work out a speedo and mileage correction factor on the trip.........

The Odo is pretty damn close to accurate but the Speedo gives you bragging rights at the pub by 7% (stock gearing and tyres)
